It was wonderful all around except for the blue lights.

The young woman at the restaurant desk who brought us (upon request) hot water and honey at night for tea was EXCEPTIONAL! She deserves special recognition. Long brown hair. Very sweet. Young. And kind. The black woman with the gorgeous long curls who checked us out this morning and helped us to the parking garage was wonderful. She was at the front desk at 3:00 am. Our daughter and granddaughter were in room 603 and the blue lights from the building next door shown in their window at night, even with drapes closed. That was our only complaint. The restaurant staff was lovely. The African-American waiter was really special as was everyone. Girls at the front desk, everyone was great we loved your hotel and if we come back to Des Moines and it may become a yearly thing with the Valais Blacknose sheep show each year we will definitely stay with you! we had three rooms.

Blue lights shining in room 603 from the building next door at night. They came in through the top of the curtain. That was our only complaint. Oh, and there weren’t luggage rocks in the rooms.

Great location, nice hotel with a nice bar and the staff at the front desk were great.

1) We were over charged for our mini bar bill by quite a lot. When I inquired how this happens and that I was upset that it would have just slipped by had I not caught it,they couldn't explain it. It was not a huge amount of money, and probably cost me more in time to recover than it was worth but it leaves a really bad taste in my mouth and makes it hard to trust them for future stays. I shouldn't have to double check mini bar charges. It's already super expensive (the restocking fee is ridiculous - that should be built into the cost, as it wasnt like the drinks were cheap), so for the house cleaning service to make "mistakes" (if it really was) is troubling. 2) There parking rate is very high. Yes, it was listed deep in the site, but I didn't even bother to check that because it's Des Moines, Iowa - how expensive could parking really be? ...well, a lot! They should contract with a different parking lot. We parked from 4 p.m. until 10 a.m. the next day, on a weekday night with no downtown events going on,, and it was $25. That's more than short-term (expensive) parking is at our San Francisco Airport, which I always considered to be very expensive, but is sometimes a necessary evil. I simply find it hard to believe they can't offer a better parking lot/fee than this. It's not a cheap hotel so they should either include parking or offer something cheaper.

Room was gorgeous...perfect sleeping environment -- very clean and no noise from surrounding rooms or outside.

The room price was expensive; the bar had good service but the bartender could not make a decent cocktail.

Cool, modern, dog-friendly hotel

Lovely restored hotel with a cool, modern vibe in downtown Des Moines. Right off Court St. district with tons of restaurants and fun Saturday Farmer's Market. We enjoyed the clean, comfortable rooms with modern amenities. The restaurant food was all delicious. Service was always on point. That it's very dog friendly and welcoming is a big bonus for those traveling with their pets.

Disappointing

Room service food via box lunch style in a paper bag. The parking garage is not attached to the hotel. The bathroom door does not seal—no bathroom cups. Hooks for towels are poorly located.

Top Notch Hotel. Great vibes just walking into the lobby. Felt so high class for minimal price. 10

The rooms, lobby, and bar made us feel like we were in a very high class hotel. The guest room had a speak easy vibe- dark woods, refurbished wood floors - very comfortable bed and pillows. Beautiful dark green shower tile. We just loved it! The lobby is so cool- to sit and relax, enjoy a cup of coffee or a drink from the bar. The cafe latte art was amazing! I didn't want to drink it! The bar carries over that speak easy vibe. Exceptional drinks! Hived Minded and Get Lucky were delicious! We didn't have food here, but next time we will.

The lighting in the bathroom could have been brighter.

Over all best Hotel ive been too. Was a romantic get away with my Hubby kid free!

So aesthetically pleasing. Perfect amount of space. Great restaurant partnership. Breakfast and coffee was great too.

Our room wouldn’t go below 70 degrees no matter what we did. The garbages were too small. Snacks and Drinks a little pricey. Wish they had the spa tubs!

perfect little getaway!

everything! clean, comfortable, loved the feel! easy parking, close to bars and restaurants. In walking distance to Wells Fargo arena (if you don’t mind a 10 min walk)

Beautiful hotel, helpful staff and great restaurant- highly recommend!

Surety is a beautifully restored hotel with a great vibe and super nice staff. They took great care of me and my dog, Amy upgraded us to ensure we were in a very quiet room so my dog was relaxed. The rooms are large and nicely done, bed was perfect. I ate at the restaurant twice and was very impressed with the cocktails and locally sourced fish, veg and homemade pasta. It’s very close to Court Street and the nightlife. I will definitely stay again and highly recommend it!
