100% recommend staying here

The room was very clean, cosy and had all the necessities: soap, a hairdryer, towels (also a beach towel on request), AC, ventilator, wifi, hot water and even potable water. The hosting family is absolutely lovely and welcoming, and even with my (close to) non-existent Spanish skills, I was able to communicate with no problems. It‘s in a very quiet place directly accross from the lagoon, yet only a 2 minute walk to bathing places, a 15 minutes walk to the city center, 10 minutes to a variety of water sport places and 25 minutes from the ADO station. Cherry on top: very cute dog! I only regret not being able to stay longer. Muchos gracias!

Lake view. Clean comfy spacious room. Convenient kitchen.

Super clean and spacious room,comfy beds,well equipped kitchen, lovely garden, beautiful lake view terrace. Sweat host family.

A little far from downtown center by walking. There aren't many stores or restaurants around.

Muy recomendable

Habitación espaciosa y súper limpia. Los dueños muy atentos. Está a unos 10-15 minutos caminando del "centro" y tiene vistas a la laguna.

Comfortable and warm stay!

The hosts and the simple vibe of this accommodation made this place like a home away from home. They were kind, simple, and offered a glimpse of a mundane but happy local retirement life. Beds were spacious, bathroom was clean, and filtered water is available. The place is also 5 minutes' walk away from a wharf on the lagoon where we could swim for free.

Location was what it was. It was a 15 minute walk to the centre of town but it was very humid so it was a bit of a drag to walk there. That said, the location also means that it was mostly quiet at night (there were some activities nearby on a couple of days which was loud but I don't think that was usual).

Amazing stay, very lovely hotel, quiet and comfy

Very lovely hotel near the city center. Great internet connexion. Very clean bedrooms, kitchen available and it was also very clean. Staff is so adorable, I would recommend this place!

A great break beside the lake.

The upper rooms afforded lovely views of the lake. The rooms were very clean and the beds were made every day with new towels. The kitchen was a convenient addition. would certainly recommend.

Superb

It is run by a small family that lives on the property and they are always available and happy to assist you. The kitchen access is a nice bonus. We also loved being able to walk to nearby restaurants and great suggestions by our host.

Good old family-run business *****

It is a bit basic but very charming place with super friendly people. For us, it felt like staying with a family, and we loved it. We had a surprisingly good view of lake Bacalar from our apartment, and there was a nice communal kitchen that we could use. Away from the village a bit, but on a quiet street. We felt safe and very welcome.

We only had cold water, and the bathroom could use an update

a cozy place to rest

we really love the place, it’s lovely, spacious, quiet, with super friendly staff. tho it’s a bit walk from the centre, doesn’t bother us at all, most of the time you don’t feel it, and it’s really close to the lagoon, 5 mins walk you can be at the bank to see the sunrise. it’s really really good value for money!

Casa Poblana exceeded our expectations. It is a quiet and very comfortable place, just a bit outside of the city, away from any noise (rare in Mexico) but just 10 min walk away from the centre of Bacalar. The family managing it were always helpful, kind and a delight to speak with. In the room the beds were comfy and the shower hot and with good pressure. You can also see the lagoon from the terrace. The only thing I would have improved is the kitchen, which was a bit basic but nice to have. Would be back without question!

Lovely little place.

Quiet. Very clean. Lovely linen on bed. Stayed up to let us check in after we arrived late having been delayed at the border. Communal kitchen.

Nice stay in Bacalar

It is well located and the owner is very very nice!!

No breakfast (but you can cook it yourself so it is fine). The air conditioning took some hours to cool the room but at the end it worked! so everything was fine!

Beautiful place, quiet but close to the centre. 5 minute walk to the lagoon. Lovely rooms and amazing service! Room was cleaned every day. We were a group of 4 and were all so happy with our stay. The kitchen is very convenient. HIGHLY recommend.

Great stay

The hotel is located in a quieter part of town, but within walking distance to the center (8-10 mins max). And it just across from the lagoon. My room is a good size for 1 person, bed is comfortable, AC is cold, hot shower is hot, and the owners are friendly. Most importantly, wifi is strong. From the upper floor of the balcony, you can see the lagoon. Price is reasonable. You can rent a bicycle and easily cycle to the center within 3 mins or to the cenotes and Cocalitos. The sunrise paddle board is a must - and the tour agencies that organize these sunrise trips are within walking/cycling distance to this hotel. There is a common kitchen that you can use for cooking and has a big fridge. I have booked for 2 nights, but added another night with them. Two thumbs up

affordable, comfortable stay

everything you need for a comfortable stay. there are no frills attached - but you don’t need them. The room was really comfortable, fresh sheets after two days, great AC, big shower with warm and cold water. we loved the space outside the room with tables and chairs for chilling out/ eating. Great Kitchen space with everything you need for budget cooking, and drinking water available!

The location was great, on a quiet street close enough to walk to the town but far enough to be quiet. The room and guesthouse in general were very clean and comfortable. The garden area is beautiful. The family running the guesthouse were kind and friendly. We had a great time!

Loved everything about it

A calm, beautiful and clean hotel with lovely people. I enjoyed the walk to the city center (just take the smaller roads and not always the main road). If needed: the kitchen is big and has everything you want and need.

Super clean and cozy

Just a very comfortable and super clean (cleaned every day) to rest after a day in the lake. Cute place that we would recommend!

Nothing to dislike! Only the beds are suuuper soft but that's a personal preference I guess ;)
