About this house rental
This historic property is one of many "Summer Cottages" of the White Mountains designed by C. Howard Walker around 1900, but it is the only one he designed and built for his own family. It has 8 bedrooms, 4.5 baths, and a grand living room that is 60 feet long. The living room has two grand pianos that were formerly owned by a concert pianist and a Metropolitan opera singer. It has a large porch with beautiful views of nature and mountains.
Situated on 10 private acres, it has private access to Lake Chocorua, one of the most picturesque lakes in the region. There is a private boathouse with access to several boats, including a canoe, a sunfish, and two kayaks.
Among several out buildings is a little playhouse that kids love.

Checkin was easy. Kitchen is well stocked with Pans, utensils ect...So old fashioned but comfortable and great if you have a lot of kids. Was certainly beautiful in its day, Im sure. very spacious, everything you need for a large family, private, great contact from owner if needed. A Walk to the boat house, but once there the lake is great and the kayak and canoe is a bonus. I would return and recommend to others.

We loved our stay at this roomy, historic, family summer home. The house has a great first floor that opens to the expansive patio and lawn. Our family filled the space with music from the pianos and badminton on the lawn. The access to the lake and the kayaks and floats provided added to our family memories. Totally recommend

The house is very large and great for a large group. There were a few things we wished we knew before we booked. They are: 1. The stair cases are very steep. They are not usable by elderly people. 2. There is no air conditioning and it was very hot on the second floor. 3. The drive way is very steep, curvy, and rutted. 4. The lake access is not really for swimming. 5. There is a glassed in sun room that becomes an oven in the afternoon and it’s part of the kitchen. The host was great to work with and the house was well stocked and clean.
