The setting of the villa is absolutely beautiful. It sits high on the hillside amongst the olive trees and has the most incredible views across Skiathos. It is wonderfully peaceful and we actually spent a lot of our holiday just relaxing at the villa and enjoying the view.
The villa itself is quite rustic, which we really liked and was part of the reason we chose it. The layout worked particularly well for our family, as we were travelling with both older and younger children. However, I think the sleeping arrangements are better suited to a family than a group of couples, as one of the sleeping areas is on a mezzanine accessed by steep ladder-style steps.
Dimitris was absolutely lovely and very helpful throughout our stay. We were there for ten days and he arranged for the villa to be cleaned and the towels and bed linen changed during our stay, which was a really nice touch and something we hadn’t expected.
Despite the practical issues mentioned below, we loved the peace, privacy and extraordinary views, and I would genuinely consider staying here again.
There are a few things I think future guests should be aware of.
The villa is at the top of a very steep hill and the final section of the road is essentially a steep dirt track. We ended up changing hire cars three times and eventually hired a Suzuki Jimny 4x4, which was much better suited to getting up and down the road. My husband is a confident driver, but even he found it difficult at times, particularly if we had to stop going uphill to allow another vehicle to pass. I would strongly recommend hiring a suitable vehicle and think this is something that should be made very clear before guests arrive.
The biggest disappointment for us was the swimming pool. We stayed in August, but the water was extremely cold — genuinely more like a plunge pool — and consequently we hardly used it. We were told this was probably because the pool is shaded for much of the day. The sea was beautifully warm, so we generally went to the beach in the late afternoon to swim instead. As a private pool was one of the reasons we were prepared to pay more for a villa, this was disappointing and is worth knowing if having a usable pool is important to you.
There is also only one bathroom, which is worth bearing in mind if you’re staying as a family or larger group.
Finally, the ladder-style steps to the mezzanine are very steep and I would say they are more suitable for children or agile younger people than adults. Our adult daughter actually slipped on them and hurt her back, so they do need to be used with care.
None of these things ruined our stay, and the villa has a lot going for it, but given the price I think prospective guests should be aware of them before booking.

You defo need a 4x4, it is seriously steep, and I love a hike, but not this every day. Dimitris can sort you out a 4x4 on arrival

The view is amazing and the villa had everything we needed as a family of 4. You need a car as not much near and the hill is steep but it is well worth it for the view over Skiathos town and Skopelos and other islands. The villa is very Greek, which we loved.
Pool gets lots of stuff in off the trees but the pool guy came every couple of days to clean and there was a net you could use yourself.
