Private parking for 3 cars; additional on road parking. No smoking.. At Arkle Terrace you can simply park the car, unpack, and enjoy the relaxing pace of country life. A generous welcome pack and a bottle of fizz welcome you in, with the country store and artisan bakery just a stroll away. You are well catered for in the village with tea rooms, eateries and an ice cream shop for summer days. The property has been completely refurbished inside and out, and offers a high level of comfort for guests. Downstairs, the spacious living room has a wood burner, large Smart TV and comfortable armchair perfectly positioned in the bay window to relax and take in the views. A dining room with large table and farmhouse dresser is a perfect place to gather with the family to dine or sit and make plans. The stylish kitchen, with flagged floors and shaker-style units, has all the modern appliances you will need, with a separate utility and boot room. There is also a downstairs shower room. Upstairs are three spacious bedrooms, all with solid oak beds and furniture, high quality mattresses and crisp bedding for a good night’s sleep. There is a luxurious bathroom with super large bath, perfect for a soak after a long day’s walk, and large walk-in shower for those who prefer. Outside, to the front is a small terrace with garden bench, a perfect spot to sit with your morning coffee and watch the sheep on the hills beyond. To the rear, a flagged courtyard with smart bistro table and chairs is a sunny spot for catching the afternoon sun and views beyond. Parking is available at the cottage, however the 2 adjoining cottages also have right of access. Additional parking is available on the side road into Hill Close, opposite the cottage. The varied scenery provides miles of walks, both low-level, gentle strolls along the river and more challenging walks with high mountains and valleys lined with streams. There are endless footpaths enjoying the most spectacular scenery. Swaledale is also popular for both mountain and road biking with events being held throughout the year. The Dales Bike Centre is just down the road at Grinton and offers cycle hire. They also have an excellent café where you can enjoy a piece of cake before setting off on your ride. The historic town of Richmond, famous for its castle, Georgian theatre and abundance of individual shops and tea rooms, is around a 30-minute drive, and in the opposite direction is Barnard Castle, with its market, cafés, antique shops and famous Bowes Museum being around the same distance. The Forbidden Corner in Middleham, only 16 miles away in Wensleydale, is hugely popular with families and is a quirky venue with its labyrinth of underground caverns. Picturesque Aysgarth Falls and Bolton Castle are en-route, with many other picture postcard villages as you pass through. At the end of a busy day exploring, the property is within easy strolling distance of a selection of pubs and restaurants, a perfect way to relax and enjoy good local ales and traditional food.
