Nestled in Saint George Island, this charming house for $284 per night is a great choice for your next vacation. FREE Beach Gear! Guests of this home will enjoy a complimentary beach gear credit toward items such as bicycles, kayaks, beach umbrellas and more! This 3BR/2.5BA beach cottage provides a quiet getaway from the hustle and bustle of everyday living. Set within the naturally preserved setting of the St. George Plantation, ‘Deacon Blues’ can be found amongst the palms and pines near the Apalachicola Bay. Boasting an open living space with high ceilings, the living room has a large, Smart TV and a gas fireplace for chilly nights. This space also opens onto an expansive screened porch that runs the length of the house and offers a great spot for watching the sunset. The porch has a nice view of the Bay and is a perfect place to relax. The nearby dining table seats up to 6 with additional seating for 4 at the kitchen bar. A well-equipped kitchen with stainless steel appliances and plenty of counterspace make cooking at home easy and convenient. Just past the kitchen is a sizable pantry with full size washer/dryer, and a ½ bath can be found between the living and dining areas. You may find most of your time spent on the large, furnished and screened-in porch with ceiling fans and views of the Apalachicola Bay featuring spectacular sunsets. This space offers plenty of room to lounge, enjoy a card game or even an evening meal. Just outside of the screened-in porch is a covered grilling area with gas grill, sink and a sundeck also with Bay views. The first of two downstairs bedrooms holds a Queen-size bed and daybed while the second bedroom offers a Queen-size bed and access to the spacious screened-in porch. A full bathroom with tub/shower separates these two bedrooms and each has their own Smart TV. The entrance of the upstairs master bedroom takes you thru a well-lit master bathroom with abundant counterspace and a large shower stall with both a fixed and hand-held showerhead. The master bedroom has a King-size bed, large screen Smart TV, convenient workspace desk and mini-fridge as well as a private balcony with views of the Apalachicola Bay. Outdoor amenities include an enclosed hot/cold outdoor shower, fish cleaning sink and covered carport. The walk to the beach is a leisurely 6-8 minutes to a nearby community beach boardwalk or you may prefer to bring/rent bicycles and enjoy a quick bicycle ride to the beach. And don't forget Deacon! We allow up to 2 medium size dogs with advance approval for an additional fee. As guests staying inside the St. George Plantation, you can enjoy miles of bike paths, walking trails and access to fishing at Bob Sike’s Cut. The nearby St. George Plantation Clubhouse offers a community lap pool, fitness center and tennis/pickleball court. A second community pool and tennis/pickleball court are also available for use. This was our first trip to St George Island. The property was just as advertised. We enjoyed biking through the Plantation and the island. The Jetty was just a short bike ride and then a quick walk.

Our first time at SGI and we loved staying at Deacon Blues! The property is on the bay side of the plantation which is a bit more private than some of the beachside homes. Many trees and plants surround the property giving it a very natural, secluded feel. The home and property were very clean and well-maintained. We enjoyed all the various decks and porches where you could sit outside and enjoy the surroundings. Stars/milky way were very visible at night, great view off of master bed deck. The walk to the beach is not bad at all (about 5-7 minutes) and worth it in my opinion for the extra privacy. We enjoyed Aunt Ebby's ice cream on the island. Also recommend taking a drive up to Wakulla Springs (about 1.5 hour). The boat tour of the river was wonderful. Also Millender seafood in Carabelle has a great little seafood store. Very clean, great selection. We almost rented another home not on the planation and I am glad we did not. The plantation is so much of a nicer setting compared to the other parts of SGI. I highly recommend Deacon Blues and would definitely stay again.

This was our first visit to SGI and it was magical! Words cannot adequately describe this home and property. We stayed for two weeks in January and attempted to book 4 weeks in 2024 but it was already booked!!
Jaime the property manager was readily available and quick to answer any questions.
Immediately you could feel that this home is loved and extremely well taken care of. So much attention to detail and a well stocked kitchen with every gadget imaginable. The only thing that I can think of that could be added was a blender if you like a frozen drink and a salad spinner.
Impeccably clean! There was a Dyson vacuum that was available to use to pick up any sand or dog hair off the tile floors that we brought in. Much appreciated! The screened in porch off the back of the house is where we spent the most time even when it got a bit chilly. You can hear the roar of the Ocean in the background. The view to the bay is spectacular and the sunsets were something to behold! There was a bird feeder out back with extra bird seed available to refill ( we bought more) but to see and hear the red winged black birds, cardinals, woodpeckers after the cold grey Michigan winter was a balm to the Soul. Comfortable porch furniture too. If it got too chilly there the front of the house was sunny with 2 rocking chairs that allowed us to relax outside.
We slept in the upstairs bedroom and the mattress was extremely comfortable.
Loved the Plantation property too! Hope to be back!

This was our 7th visit to SGI, but our first stay at Deacon Blues. We think it is our new first choice for our next visit. The home was beautiful, clean and had everything we needed. It was just a few minutes walk to the beach and a short bike ride to Sike's Cut. Our dogs loved all the walks on the beach and the bike path and we very much appreciate that they were allowed to come. We loved the painting of Deacon!!

Everything was completely seamless -- rental process; property was as described/photographed. It was available several hours before the posted time. I rented this home a year in advance for my fiance's birthday and it was absolutely wonderful, this was our serving stay in the plantation and you can not find a better place to stay with your family, you can bike ride all around the plantation, to the beach or down to the jetty area, the beaches located inside the plantation are never crowded, there's fishing spots and nature trails. The house itself, perfect for the whole family to get together and enjoy a slower pace of life and spend time with one another, the house had everything you could need and I was extremely thankful they even had a full stock of seasonings, outdoor shower, plenty of games and comfy beds. The view from the top floor master bedroom at sunset is astonishing as well as the lower deck. Thank you again for sharing your home with my family and I, we had a wonderful time!

And the home was artsy and tastefully decorated with beautiful antiques. My daughter and I were both impressed with the attention to detail and all the extras as well -- from the broad selection of books (including cookbooks), to games, guitars, and a week stocked kitchen. The fact that the home is pet friendly, allowing us to bring our two dogs with us, was a definite plus. We can't wait to return next year!

We enjoyed our stay at Deacon Blues. The house is beautiful inside and out. The unique antique furnishings and framed photographs of fishermen from years ago were especially nice. It was very relaxing to be secluded among the trees with a view of the Bay from the back deck with the wicker furniture. We saw a Great Horned Owl, an Ibis and other birds from the deck. The beach was beautiful, not crowded and is just a short distance. We will be back to Deacon Blues.

My husband and I, along with our terrier Chester, just returned home from a February stay on SGI. This is the fifth year in a row we've taken a late winter or early spring trip to this lovely island, and this is the third time we've stayed for a month in the Plantation. Deacon Blues is my favorite of the properties we've stayed at. This home is so well maintained and comfortable. We had absolutely no problems at all. We loved the large screen porch, which is so nicely furnished. We also really liked the deck with the outdoor kitchen, and appreciated being able to grill on the same level as the kitchen.
This house was the perfect size for us. So many of the properties in the Plantation are so large, and many have the living area on the top floor. We enjoyed not having so many stairs to climb.
Some people might not care for the location, but we actually prefer the bay side of Leisure Lane to the Gulf side because it's more secluded and private. And we enjoyed the walk to and on the beach.
Jamie (and Forgotten Shores in general) was easy to work with. Although Jamie wasn't always super quick to answer my inquiries, I understood because this is such a small company. And based on this cleanliness and condition of this property, I'd say they do very good work. This part of the island had a planned water shut-off one day (to fix a leaking pipe), and Forgotten Shores contacted us about it well in advance so that we could be prepared.
All in all, we had a wonderful month at Deacon Blues and hope to return some day!

The property is just as the pictures show. Had everything we needed and even things we didn’t think of like games. Screened porch was great. Beach was close. House is set back far in neighborhood. Takes 7 mins just to get to guard shack. So quick run to the PW express is 25 mins there and back. Beware the film on the glass makes it almost like a mirror inside at night with the lights on. But if someone is outside and the lights are on they can see you but you can’t see them. Could be awkward if you thought no one could see you changing but they can in the drive way for example. Property mgr replied to all emails. No need for us to contact during week stay.
