Size is adquate for a couple. However, needs a thorogh clean.
All shutters for safety requires lock. Some of the sockets don't work. More lighting outside for when coming in at night. Shrubs requires pruning.

This is an amazing property very very close and location to everything that we needed it's small and modest but adequate in size for our needs. I found the premises to be poorly equipped with kitchen pots. Were enough in quantity however they were Teflon and completely cut up and not suitable for use whatsoever. The hostess with my complaint did provide me with newer pots and pans. There was a layer of grime all over everything in the kitchen which for my standard of cleanliness was not adequate there was also glass and garbage underneath the bed however the rest of the premises were quite clean enough. I would say that this is a lovely place to stay location wise I would just ensure that everything is clean and equipped once you get there I think it's unlikely to have been professionally cleaned. I was late so I had not noticed this that night as we ate out but was unable to cook the next day as well and was it took two days to get newer pots. With those things cleaned up however I would be happy to stay in this place again especially as the hostess was very responsive however nobody came in to clean it before we left despite it being filthy in the kitchen when we got there. I myself would have done this for guests in the same position

A pleasant stay close to all Holetown and St. James has to offer. Definitely the best location on the island for the best restaurants and beaches, having been before. Moira was helpful and left me in peace also a nice balance.

Great location quiet.secure maintained gardens
Obvious need for a thorough and pre rental cleaning was disappointing. Living in the tropics makes that even more critical..Redundant things eg cushions and pictures thick with old dust, kitchen curpbards not cleaned

The place is great, great location, have anything you can look for.
The pool access is definitely a great addition, and the little patio is great place to eat breakfast or lunch.
Our main issues had been with cleanliness: overall the place was clean but we have found multiple ants and roaches in the kitchen area throughout our stay. Ants arent a big deal to us but roaches at night was definitely the reason we did not step in the kitchen at night (none during the day). This is not necessarily the host fault because her place does not have true glass windows.
She did provide us with insect barrier which worked great, but I do think it is something that should have been applied before our stay to all corners and openings as we only had it on our last day and we applied it ourselves.
Finally, note that she is trying to sell the place so be expected to have visits. We were a bit uncomfortable about visits as she preferred that we were not there during them. Nothing of ours ended up missing so at least she kept those guests under her surveillance. It is also a bit overwhelming to always have to check our message and see if she had something schedule and if we had to be extra organized (bed done, everything put away, etc.)
We did not let this ruined our trip and tried to enjoy the place as much as possible! If you are on a budget, and not looking for luxury: this place will do the work. This is the first time we go with vrbo and the first time we had such an affordable place so we did not expect much.

Chill out at ginger cottage
Warm welcome on arrival and Moira told us all we needed to know.
The cottage is perfectly located, a short walk from the beach, restaurants, bars and shops and we felt quite safe walking home in the dark. The included entry to the pool at the beach club was very welcome and we used it regularly over the two weeks.
The cottage is very well equipped with everything we needed. The sunny deck was our favourite place for relaxing and eating home cooked meals.
Ginger cottage is one of two small holiday properties built onto Moira’s own house, all of which are set in lovely gardens with a variety of beautiful plants, shrubs and trees. We saw humming birds, yellow breast birds, lizards and an occasional monkey in the garden.
Moira was on hand if we needed anything without being intrusive and very kindly let us keep our luggage on her property on our last day when we had an evening flight.
We wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again.

This experience was horrible.Unable to contact VRBO.Was advised by locals to report host to the authorities for bullying & unreasonable property conditions. Apt not like the pictures or as advertised. It is very small 300sq ft, unventilated and I had to ask for a musquito net which the host insisted on taking a day to try to make I completed the task with my own handi work. There were at least 2 days of our vacation alloted to blocking window borders with batten, re: musquitos and cockroaches as fix a(door lock), fridge, toilet. I hand roach fly inmy nightgown while trying to read in the 2 x 5 kitchen area and witnessed 3 (roaches) entering the kitchen screen which slides open/no seal /locks. Host lives on site, this is not a private apartment, expect intermittent visits unanounced, the solar lights don't work and you have to enter past the host gait when you enter/exit the property. The host has an extreme dislike/distrust for locals. This property is in dire disrepair. Refridge inoperable by day two (this took until 10 pm following day) to be remedied. We had to move all of our groceries to another apartment which we were offered for higher rate than 1600 US $ per month. The maintenance man attended unmasked and no shoes for an entire day to fix door lock and also fridge & toilet to lessen water use. We did not feel comfortable leaving our items on site. Dirty sheets upon arrival, unsealed windows with old screens and windows that didn't lock which made us concerned for our safety. Expect to be eaten alive on the property by mosquitos. When told the stay was unsatisfactory (re: covered in bites) I was bullied and demeaned by host who told me I received all of my bites at the beach or on her deck, I did not. AC / bedroom is $1 an hour, this was not advertised prior to booking. "Don't understand why folks come here for heat and need AC to sleep." Host repsonse. "The fan in the kitchen has been adjusted to not spin at optimal speed." Expect no ventilation if you opt for safety and to be eaten alive by mosquitos. Old used soap provided from prior guests, 1 inch of dish soap, no shampoo, had to ask for clean linens as ones provided were covered in ash as were all of the kitchen glasswear. Shutters would not close or lock properly during tropical storm & hurricane, or lock for safety or incoming rain/wind etc. No provisions -flashlights, matches, working lighters, had to leave premises re: safety concerns and general lack of concern.

The cottage was small, but well equipped with all we needed for a comfortable stay! Nice location in Sunset Crest and great bonus having access to the local members only pool. Great place to stay without breaking the bank!

Homely place to stay, great value for money!
My husband and I recently spent 16 days at Ginger Cottage. Moira was very welcoming and informative about the local area! The cottage was small, but well equipped with all we needed for a comfortable stay! Nice location in Sunset Crest and great bonus having access to the local members only pool. Great place to stay without breaking the bank!

Cinnemon Appartment empfehlenswert
Wir waren drei Wochen bei Moira und haben unseren Aufenthalt sehr genossen. Die Lage in Sunset Crest ist sehr gut und Supermarkt und Restaurant sind in der Nähe. Das Appartment ist schon etwas in die Jahre gekommen, aber gut gepflegt. Leider gab es niemand der die Wohnung sauber macht und die Betten bezieht. Einmal die Woche gab es neue Bettwäsche von Moira und zweimal die Woche Handtücher. In der Beschreibung ist ein Maidservice angekündigt, den es aber nicht gibt. Zu unser Zeit wurde viel in den Gärten gearbeitet, so das manchmal morgens schon die Kettensägen liefen. Lag wohl an der Jahreszeit:-(

Lovely cottage in a great location
Moira was there to meet us when we arrived after a short taxi drive from the airport. The cottage had everything we needed and we particularly loved the dining area on the veranda at the back. We were able to sit and watch the humming birds come to the beautiful flowers in the garden every day. The location was excellent - just a short walk to local restaurants, the beach, pool and bus stops.

Only cold water for the shower, no phone to call cabs or make dinner reservations or book excursions, A.C. only works in the bedroom and the rest of the place is VERY hot. And no privacy at all. We love Barbados and have rented in this country before but we hated this place. What a waste of money. Not to mention the entire place is a cluttered mess and full of stuffed animals.

Very quiet and comfortable
We stayed at Cinnamon Cottage and it was a very quiet and pleasant setting. Moira was very nice and her dogs were so precious and friendly. We were not able to make use of the Jacuzzi or the pool as we were hardly ever there. The only negative thing is that my boyfriend is deaf, and the television, although the closed caption was turned on, they never appeared. So, for the time we were there, my boyfriend was unable to really enjoy television and was basically lost. This is the only reason I give it 4 stars rather than 5. I would recommend this location to everyone. We loved Barbados.

Fabulous
I've been to Barbados many times over the past 13 yrs and stayed in various rentals. This May I was lucky enough to find Sugar and Spice apartments and now will never go anywhere else. Moira the owner was friendly and helpful. Ginger Cottage was extremely clean ( even to my OCD standards ) and comfortable. Being a lone female I felt safe straight away especially with Moira's two little dogs who are super. The apartment was nicely decorated and contained everything I needed for my 3 weeks stay, including ample supply of clean towels and bedlinen. The Grounds were pretty and had solar lighting at night, with plenty of loungers for use in the daytime. The Beach Club pool is great and Restaurants / Bars / Shops are all within easy walking distance. I have already recommended this property to all my family and friends. Fabulous place, fabulous holiday!

Ginger & Spice Cottage .......perfect stay
This is a lovely cottage with all you could require in a fabulous position in Holetown in St James in the most exclusive part of the island I have been visiting the island since 2008 and this was the best value for money, near all the shops and bars with Lime Grove on the doorstep. Moira is a great hostess and am very firmly booked in for a whole month over the Christmas period. Can't wait,

Very satisfied, can’t wait to go back
We stayed in Ginger Cottage at the Sugar and Spice complex for 4 weeks in February 2015. We were warmly welcomed on our arrival, by Moira, the owner.
The apartment, although small it is nicely decorated, well equipped, comfortable and excellent value for money.
Ginger Cottage is the smallest of the 3 units and this is reflected in the price. It comprises a bedroom, shower/WC, lounge/kitchen area and a small covered veranda for dining. There’s a choice of garden area with loungers, a shared barbecue and a hidden laundry area. There is everything for a relaxing holiday in the Caribbean.
The location is quiet, but conveniently close to all the shops and restaurants of Holetown, with an excellent bus service for exploring further afield on the island, so car rental is not essential. The private pool complex adjacent to a sandy beach, and next door to The Beach House for food and drinks is an excellent additional facility. There is a 24/7 mini supermarket open 365 days a year, just 8 minutes’ walk away.

Awesome 3 weeks!
My Husband and I stayed in Cinnamon Cottage for 3 weeks. Loved the location. Close to everything and the beach pool house use was spectacular. Moira and the pups were all very helpful. lol We would definatley return to this peaceful haven. Keep in mind it is like someone's 'house' with lots of 'stuff' in it. But fully equipt in every way. Only downfall (from my husband) was there is no TV as advertised (just internet streaming) and aside from clean towels and sheets, no maid service as advertised, not that it was needed as we are pretty clean and organized. Overall a definate 4 out of 5!

Wouldn't stay anywhere else
Debbie and I have been staying at Sugar and Spice apartments for several years and we can't imagine stayinng anywere else. We think of it as our second home.
The location is really convenient to the resort pool, all the beaches and shops and resturants in Holetown. We always rent a jeep because we like to explore the whole island for remote beaches and find local places to eat or just hang out.
The apartment (our apartment) we stay in (Demerara Cottage) is comfortable and well equipped. The lady who comes twice a week to clean and Jerry, the gardener, make sure everything is in tip top shape. Moria and Humbug, with her always wagging tail, always make us feel right at home.
We have been "erasing Feb" in Barbados since 2002 and wouldn't think of staying anywhere else. Moira has become a close friend of ours an has always been there with good advice to make our stay every year better than the last.

DELIGHTFUL HOLIDAY
Stayed at Cinnamon Cottage for 7 weeks, loved every minute. The accommodation is in a great location with its own private plunge pool or the beach and larger pool for guests is only a short walking distance away. Bars & restaurants within 5 minutes walk. We found it very homely with all the facilities we needed and more. Will be booking again for 2013.

A charming home away from home
Cinnamon Cottage was a perfect base for our mother & daughter (20) Christmas holiday. We loved the comfort: the furniture and all the extras (books, decoration, DVDs, CDs) are a long way from the utilitarian furniture and sparse decor of so many rentals. That's probably because the owner is on-site full-time (in an attached apartment). She ensures that the property and guests are well looked after, although we did not need to ask for anything. The maid comes twice weekly to change sheets and towels and do light cleaning, and the gardener keeps the lovely grounds, with private dipping pool, very attractive. The private garden is far superior to any other we saw in the vicinity.
The location was wonderful. Just a 5-10 minute walk to a large supermarket, duty-free and souvenir shopping at Chattel Village, Sunset Crest Mall and West Coast Mall, as well as the beach and all the restaurants of Holetown. We did not rent a car for our first week and we were fine without one (although we would recommend having one for exploring Barbados).
Comparing Cinnamon Cottage to other short-term rentals, we felt we had received superior value. The private outdoor terrace is large and suitable not just for dining, but also lounging/reading with comfortable chairs, overhead fans and good lighting for evening. The indoor lounge feels just like home. There is plenty of shelf/cupboard/drawer space in the bedroom and bathroom. The kitchen is completely equipped for full meal preparation, and there is also laundry/ironing etc. The owner has two lovely dogs who are very friendly and well-behaved.
I would recommend this cottage to a couple or a single person looking for a quiet getaway (or, like us, 2 people willing to share the single bedroom).
