Creek Side Cottage with Lake Views, Lake Access, Dock and Secluded Yard
About this house rental
Nestled in Allegheny River, this lovely house for $169 per night is a great choice for your next trip. Comfortable three bedroom cottage that is ideal for a family get-away. We have a lakefront parcel and dock to accommodate boaters and easier launching of kayaks! Our location is also only 3.5 miles from downtown Jamestown and attractions such as the Lucille Ball museum. The property consists of 2 homes built in the early 1900s. The back house is where we keep the kayaks, grill, fire pit and other outdoor items. Grill your meals from the back house porch while watching boats enter and exit the southern tip of Lake Chautauqua. The back house is included as part of the regular rental. In the main house, the 2 primary bedrooms each have a queen bed, and the 3rd bedroom has a twin as well as a twin size trundle bed. The fold out couch and futon can accommodate additional guests, and there are also fold out cushions / sleepers as well as air mattresses. The kitchen is very spacious and has plenty of counter space. And the property itself is fairly private with fencing along 2 sides and the creek bordering the other 2. Kayak rental is also available. You can make use of our 6 available kayaks throughout the duration of your stay for a $60 fee, which can be added to the booking. The lakefront property is basically just across the street and maybe 30 yards from the driveway. This is an ideal spot for fishing, relaxing and viewing sunsets. And if you have a boat we also have a dock available on the lakefront property. The water depth at the dock can go down to about 27" though, so it's best suited for a pontoon or a boat with a lower draft.

We came up to the area for one night to celebrate the New Year with family who have a lake house in Greenhurst. Erik was awesome to work with. They even had a bottle of bubbly and some NYE favors for us which was a nice touch. Very clean. My only piece of information to pass on is the steps upstairs will be difficult for older folks or those with mobility issues. It was no problem for us or our kids.

It was a great stay, unfortunately not long enough!! Went out for 2 days had great communication with the owner, very timely responses. Not many people around but the ones we saw were friendly neighbors. Will certainly stay again, went fishing off the dock with no luck was a little shallow for the time of year. Next time i will have a boat to get out for musky.
All and all i would recommend it.

We enjoyed our stay. We were only at the cottage for 3 nights so we basically just slept there & ate breakfast there. The kitchen was well equipped and clean. The "Lake" decorations were a very nice touch -- they made it feel like home.

Cute cottage. Great location. couple miles off of 86. 10 minutes to Bemus Point. LOVE the back building porch and the fire ring area.

The cottage and "boat house" are both really cute, quaint and well maintained. I spent alot of time outside enjoying the little stream right there as well as the birds, chipmunks and ducks :) and I would often walk over to the private dock for amazing lake views - you can also see the lake from the porch on the boat house. We utilized the fire pit several times. The location is very nice and quiet.
The stairs are a bit tight, but there aren't many of them so it was doable. Bedrooms were perfect for me and my daughters and grandson. We were puzzled by the lack of real doors to close and lock (2 bigger bedrooms and the bathroom).
It was an amazing stay and we hope to rebook in the future!

Was stopping by the area for a few days
Erik was very responsive and accomodating. Had a nice time.

This property was clean and ready for our arrival. The owner, Erik, was very responsive. We didn’t know how to use the smoker grill so we cooked on the gas stove in the kitchen. It’s a short walk to the lake and dock and the community is quiet. We got out in our rented kayaks only once due to weather. The location was great with attractions like the Lucy and Desi Museum and Midway Amusement Park just a short drive away. This property was perfect for our needs, but I would not recommend it to families with toddlers. As you can see in the photos, there is a lot of water around the house. All in all, it was a nice stay and the kids enjoyed playing the games in the cottage.

Wonderful stay

We stayed for a family fishing trip. Kitchen/gas stove was fantastic during meal times. Little creek is cool. We cooked out and relaxed on the outdoor porch. The indoor porch was great when it rained.
Ours was a short trip and the dock was great, but for a die hard fishing group, there's no electric access at the dock for charging your batteries.
For older visitors, just know there is only 1 bathroom downstairs...all the bedrooms are upstairs.
Thanks,
Steve.

Erik was great to work with and went out of his way to help us gain 2 more kayaks for our travelers. The house is in a great spot near the lake and it was a great time

Great place for family to gather outside. Love the fire pit and the feeling of privacy. House was older but had a charm. The leaves were beautiful this time of year. Everyone enjoyed their stay and the host was great.

We enjoyed the quiet, quaint property reading, watching birds, and the solace of the lake views.

Not only was the property and the location great, Erik has the place set up very well to make for an enjoyable stay! We loved getting out on the kayaks.

We definitely enjoyed our stay this past Labor Day weekend. We had a fire every night in the fire pit. Fished in the creek, and actually caught some little perch. The kayaks are a great addition for weekend fun. Early morning, when the lake is smooth as glass, is the best time! The house had everything needed. It is very private where it is located. We enjoy old and quaint. This definitely fits that description! Thank you for the accommodations!

Cozy, old, cottage. Functional for our needs. Loved sitting in the enclosed porch sipping coffee in the mornings and have a fire out side at night. Would definitely return.

My family and I enjoyed our stay at the house. The host was timely to respond to questions and attentive to our needs. The property was well-stocked with everything we needed for a family getaway and we easily made ourselves at home.

This is a fantastic property sitting right on the river with a dock on the lake just a short walk away. Our favorite part was the outdoor spaces and the outdoor amenities (fire pit, grill, Kayaks, game room). The house itself has an updated kitchen but we did find evidence of mice on the counter. The remainder of the house is cabin like and comfortable. One bathroom was not an issue but we were not provided enough towels. There were also no extra paper towels for kitchen use. Overall, I would recommend if small improvements were made.

Best time ever. Will certainly book next year. Unfortunately we had trouble with our boat and couldn’t make use of the terrific dock. But we used it for sunning and enjoying some beautiful days. Loved the extra boat house so those that stayed up late could play games watch tv. Etc. and not bother the early ones that turned in early. Also fishing in creek behind cottage was a lot of fun. Eric was the best to communicate with. One suggestion. Need an extra garbage tote. We had a lot. And ran out of space.

The owner was very good to work with. Be informed that the stairs to second level are step and narrow. Don't miss going to the Comedy Center - great laughs.

Kayaks a hit with kids
Creek on back of property made easy work of launching kayaks.
a short paddle to lake and dock. Water off dock only two to three feet deep. Great for kids to swim. Fenced property good for pets. Good for 3 or 4 people. Because of creek, mosquitoes
were around, but not a real nuisance. Owner was very accommodating . Enjoyed our stay. Thanks eric.

Great stay by the lake
I stayed here with my family, including two kids and a dog. The large, fenced backyard was perfect for our dog. The kids (and adults!) enjoyed the poker table, board games and kayaks. The location is perfect for quiet walks in the morning and going out on the kayak— you can go along the preserve where we saw lots of wildlife including a great blue heron.

Weekend Getaway
Erik was very accommodating and informative about several unforeseen and unavoidable circumstances. We fell in love quickly with the boathouse and was the best part of the property by far. Very unique and relaxing experience.

There's a saying, "Buyer Beware," and this property could be the poster child for this saying. The property is not on the street, but located behind another house, which had (among other things) a broken down truck rusting in the back yard and about 30 old tires piled haphazardly in the backyard. (I thought I was on a mission project in an extremely impoverished area of Appalachia.) On the description there are beautiful pictures of a dock and of sunsets looking out over the lake. For me, these pictures implied that the property was on the lake. Such was not the case. Instead, you had to walk down the "street" to stand by the property and I was never clear on whether that spot was actually someone else's private property. There were hordes of mosquitos which drove us inside every night we were there. Perhaps the most outrageous aspect was that all three bedrooms were located on the second floor. To access them, one needed to climb up and down these incredibly steep and narrow steps. The steps were clearly not to code. As someone who has an autoimmune disease which makes me mobility challenged (yes, I get to drive around with one of those blue tags issued by the the state DMV.), the steps were a huge risk and hardship. However, when I went back and looked at the pictures of the house, there was not a single picture of the stairs. As far as I could tell, there was no warning about the stairs either.. Let me me clear here, I am not an invalid. I can walk around without a cane or walker or any other device. I can climb stairs on my own. I can get around the office, mall, movie theater, sidewalks, etc without any assistance. However, stairs to represent a special challenge, and if you are going to be renting your home, the least you could do is advise potential guests about the stairs up to the bedrooms. Or, as I said in the title, "Buyer Beware." If you have read my review this far, consider this fair warning and look somewhere else for a vacation rental .
