Disappointing, noisy stay made worse by abusive host

Several things were dirty or badly maintained. The rainforest shower head in the main bathroom was encrusted with limescale so the water flow went everywhere. I tried cleaning it but it was too encrusted plus whenever the shower was turned on the pipes banged loudly. Also the shower leaked and pooled into a space between it and the handbasin which was depressing. The dustbin in the bathroom was broken. The bunkbeds were really uncomfortable with hard ridges on the mattresses and the double bed was so uncomfortable that I slept on the bottom bunk bed with my daughter. Storage for clothes was meagre - a cheap plastic stand with no chest of drawers in each of the kids' bedrooms, while there was no wardrobe in the master bedroom. There were no pictures on the walls and it felt like a student houseshare. There were old cigarette butts in the courtyard and it didn't look like it had been swept or cleaned in weeks. It was also really noisy as it is on a skinny main thoroughfare down which buses, trucks & cars fly down. That can't be helped but it should be mentioned in the listing. Keys were in keysafe at door so they were easy to collect. However there was no guide book, welcome note or info about where we should put rubbish bags, recycling or their recommendations for places to visit. On the day we checked out, the landlord rang me to ask about our stay but quickly became abusive after I said we were disappointed. I hung up on him and then had to quickly move out my 80+ parents and little 10-year-old daughter as I was worried he was going to show up to hand out more abuse. A really unpleasant finish to our disappointing stay. The worst holiday place we've ever stayed at. Avoid at all costs.

Wonderful

What a fabulous find this cottage was. Beautifully presented, cosy but modern and everything you needed was to hand. The owner was great at promptly providing any information we needed too which was so helpful. Had a lovely dinner at the George and Dragon recommended as dog friendly by the owner. We will be back.

Superb

A little gem of a property in a little gem of a town. The house was clean, modern, and beautifully presented, and stocked with all the essentials needed for a short stay. Ideally located for everything Sandwich has to offer. Had no issue parking in either of the two local car parks.

The main bedroom has an ensuite shower but no toilet. It wasn't a problem for us but the property would definitely benefit from having a second toilet if it was at its full capacity of 6.

Superb

The location is great for all the town's amenities -- barely 5 minutes walk to any of Sandwich's restaurants and bars. The house had everything we needed for a great stay, with plenty of space, excellent facilities and the bonus of a small balcony. Paul is a great host.

The central location does, however, mean it can be a little noisy at times from the road but wasn't a major issue for us. Would still definitely recommend.

Sandwich short break

Beautifully decorated and perfectly located with the river across the road and superb restaurants, pubs and cafes within a minute’s walk. We loved our stay with the stunning byes from the terrace, comfy beds and peaceful surroundings. We had everything we needed for our stay and the owner Paul was super helpful and friendly. I’d definitely stay here again and recommend the house for a relaxing break in this idyllic town.

We had three days seeing family and old friends, glad of our own quiet base to relax in

Sandwich is one of the loveliest towns in England. This house is perfect for a couple ( like us) or a family with children. There is a balcony where you can have breakfast or an early evening drink, a living room with a comfy sofa for book reading and a good practical kitchen. You are right in the town, with shops nearby (including the wonderful No Name Shop deli.) You can take walks along the river - right behind the house - round the ancient ramparts or down to the bay. The pub next door,The Crispin, does local beer and good food. We recommend the George and Dragon for dinner.

Nice retreat while our heating and hot water were broken at home

Location was amazing. It was lovely that the cottage had everything to allow you settle in i.e. tea / coffee / washing up stuff / washing machine tablets etc. Rooms where very comfortable and Paul was always able to respond very quickly to any questions we might have sent.
