Horrible and unsafe, unprofessional experience.
This was a horrible experience. I have never used booking.com before, and most likely never will again.
The host had many mistakes in the listing that cost me money and my vacation. They stated no extra charge for pets, yet charged $50 more. They stated no security fee for damages, yet charged my card $250 without notifying me or showing it on an invoice the day before arrival. When asked about the issues and pointing out with screenshots from the listing/conformation, the host demanded I pay right then or they will cancel the reservation, 5 hours before check-in. They made me pay via a 3rd party webcite without a security log in or card protection. Upon arrival to the location the poor quality of neighborhood and apartment complex was shocking. The two businesses next to it were boarded and closed. The property the apartment was a part of was in poor condition, with lopsided roofs, missing siding, and dumpsters were in the middle of the parking lots without fencing or curbs. There was a safety issue with the metal stairway leading to the apartment. It was an old and repainted cast iron stairway. It was not securely attached to the building. Two adults and two dogs would have to walk up and down it for the entire weekend,but we could not safely travel up it. I had to contact booking.com and the host to inform them of my concerns. The host asked to just cancel and only game me 50% back of my accommodation price. I had to shop around for a hotel in Lawton area. The hosts thencontinued to send emails every hew hours asking about how I was enjoying my stay in their apartment. They told me I still needed to go back and handle the trash, laundry, and cleaning of the apartment. When asking them why would they require that of me since I didn't stay there due to issues, they stated they had no idea of what issues I was referring too. This host is either a scam or an AI handling customer service.
