Grosse déception

La situation de l'hôtel, loin de tout, dans les hauteurs de Monte Joana avec une vue superbe.

Accueil déplorable... Nous avions choisi cet hôtel au vu des commentaires sur l'accueil et nous avons été plus que déçues! Le personnel n'était vraiment pas aimable. La salle de bains était dans un état déplorable avec des vers et des fourmis... Hygiène plus que douteuse, notamment celle des draps... sans parler du matelas pas du tout confortable. Quant au diner pris tous ensemble, c'était correct mais sans comparaison avec ce que nous avons mangé par ailleurs, pour 3 fois moins cher... la situation de l'hôtel ne permet pas de prendre son repas du soir à l'extérieur alors ils en profitent ! Il serait par ailleurs utile de donner des précisions sur les difficultés pour rejoindre l'hôtel et surtout sur le coût du trajet !

Incroyable séjour !

La vue, l’emplacement reculé dans les montagnes tout est magnifique ! Les repas sont pris tous ensemble ce qui apporte beaucoup de convivialité. Il est très facile d’organiser des transports pour aller faire les randonnées les plus réputées de l’île.

Toch teleurstellend. Geen werkende wifi. Zwembad was pas de laatste dag gevuld. En de laatste ontstond er ook nog brand

De bijzondere ligging

Het feit dat je elke keer een taxi moest nemen voor 10 euro naar het dorp. En dus terug ook weer. En daarna een barre tocht over een smal deels onverhard pad En dan nog een hele lange trap. Met bagage bijna niet te doen. Er kwam wel iemand helpen.

A real retreat

The place is very nice, in the middle of the mountains and very green. The rooms are comfortoble and clean. There is a lot of space. The foos is also good.

There is a 20min hike to arrive at the hotel. When we arrived there was no water in the pool and no wifi. We didn't get to have a swim or internet. We asked for internet, they said they will try to fix it but they didn't. Breakfast was at 8h30, very late if you want to do hikkings. We try to asked if it could be earlier and they just said no. Last day we had to leave the hotel early because our ferry was early and we booked a taxi at 8h15, they said that they would do it at 7h30 since we had the breakfast paid but they served us at 8h.

Very remote but very beautiful place. Not clean and friendly. And WORMS at night! Good for 1 or 2 nights

The view and the location was amazing even though SUPER REMOTE! Some of the staff was nice and they accommodated a last minute change of dates and the transfer from the port.

The property manager was very unfriendly, the room was not really clean, WAS MISSING A BATHROOM DOOR AND HAD WORMS EVERYWHERE FROM THE AFTERNOON ON. The pool was dirty.

Superb

The place is stunning, very clean and comfortable. The food is delicious and a great touch that we all got together to eat at the same times. The stuff is wonderful and it almost feels like a family

Place is beautiful but accessibility is a nightmare, especially if you plam to do hiking or visit other areas in the mountain. Wifi is very unreliable (and theres no 4G)

The location and view into their plantage and hills is magnificent, but it’s important to be aware that its secluded location will also make you spend quite some money on transfers from the secluded offroad location, on average 40€ a day if you are only with two and plan to hike in the nicest places. We appreciated the assistance of the manager, Cristina, who did help us with our program and was initiative and flexible about many things.

Facility We chose the place for our honeymoon for its advertised infinity pool to be able to dip in after hiking. In our case they decided to empty it and clean it just on our arrival and kept turning on and off the water refilling, keeping it in maintenance for all 5 days of our stay. Even if there might have been a water issue (not visible in other ways) like they pretended, it’s a failure of their planning (in a non-touristic season where the arrival of guests is not that frequent) and an apology or a compensation was in place as this definitely affects the price we pay per day. In the room the drainage of the shower was badly cleaned and the room was humid so it made the bathroom smelly after a day and there was no cleaning assistence like in other places of this price range. On our arrival we found human nails in the carpet so vacuming wasn’t really done properly, but the bed and the rest was hygienic. Food There is no other logistic option than staying for dinners and their cook serves ok meals but basically everyday the same. The advertisment on booking promised a la carte three options for breakfast, in our case this was not true and we got served all days in a row a fried omelette although we asked for alteration. If we were lucky a piece of fruit.

Amazing place lost in the mountain

Amazing view from the terrace and the room You eat your meals with all the other clients so you get to meet new people and exchange tips about hikes on Santo Antao Great Staff

Difficult to access by definition but that’s the price to pay to get such a calm place and amazing view

Perfect opportunity to relax, enjoy the quiteness and consume good food.

The location of The Retreat is superb. Also the food is delicious and freshly made. We upgraded to a suite and it was modern and spacious. At the moment of our visit The Retreat has been enlarged and therefore the photos were not always matching reality.

The walk to The Retreat can be challenging, luckily our suitcases were carried.

The place is a dream really nice location and amazing views. lots of options to go trekking.

the Wi-Fi was bad in case someone cares for that. And you don’t really get to choose what and when to eat which can be a hustle since there is nothing else around.

The most amazing view I've ever had

It is simply the hotel with the most beautiful view I have ever had. I travel a lot and use Booking a LOT, but honestly nothing could beat this... The landscape around the Retreat is simply magical. The dinner and breakfast were great, the pool too and the beer and grogue too. If you want to be cut off the world for one/several nights and really relax, don't even hesitate to choose this place!

Location of the retreat was 'in the middle of nowhere' which is perfect for just relaxing and enjoying the moment. The pool was nice and had a beautiful view!

Unfortunately, our room had mould on the wall and on our sheets due to heavy rainfall in the area. The language barrier made it difficult to make our complaint understandable and we had the feeling that the staff weren't really interested. We requested a different room, but we were only offered one at a surcharge.

The young lady that works there is amazing! Friendly, informative, and nothing she won’t do for you. We felt so welcome from the second we got there. Beds were super comfortable and all the food we had was excellent. Some of the best food I’ve eaten in Cape Verde, the chef knows his profession! Gardens are kept immaculate n all in all in was fantastic. Walking up was a bit difficult but I guess if you go to sa you should really be expecting a walk! Oh views from all angles of this place are spectacular. I’ve stayed in hotels on ground level in sa but none compare to the views we woke up to here! Amazing job here guys! Thanks guys for everything! X
