Good value. Comfortable bed. Was pleased to find a guest kitchen so we could make a simple breakfast for ourselves.
Would have like a guest lounge or even just a small seating area so we could have a cuppa or breakfast without one person having to sit on the bed.

The beds were so comfy.
The shower head was directed at the wall and it was difficult to alter the water temperature.

The good morning & Beautiful friendly welcome i got ordering my latte & the fact it was the best dam coffee ive had made since living in PERTH. silly me i didn't ask what beans they use. I think she was an owner not casual staff. made my day.
### Hotel Review – An Iconic Hotel That Deserves Better
As a paying guest, I was disappointed by the overall lack of hospitality and customer service during my stay.
Not once was I greeted with a smile, a simple hello, or even a friendly "How are you?" There was no introduction from the staff member I was speaking with, nor any indication of their role within the establishment.
I was also surprised to be told that my room was ready and the door had been left unlocked, regardless of whether I had officially checked in. From a guest security and professional hospitality perspective, I found this concerning.
The liquor store attached to the pub was closed, meaning I couldn't purchase any alcohol to take back to my room. I understand it was a Monday, but it was disappointing that this service was unavailable to guests staying on the premises.
To make matters worse, **there was no food available on-site!** For an establishment offering accommodation, this was particularly disappointing.
Having previously managed a tavern, pub and accommodation establishment in Western Australia before returning to New Zealand, I understand the hospitality industry from the ground up. I worked my way through various roles into management, learning the importance of customer service, staff leadership, guest satisfaction and creating an atmosphere that makes people want to return.
This hotel has so much history, character and potential. It is an iconic establishment that deserves to be thriving, not leaving guests feeling unwelcome.
I genuinely believe that with the right leadership, a motivated team and a renewed focus on hospitality, this establishment could be brought back to its former glory.
**A great hotel is not just about providing a room. It's about making every guest feel welcome from the moment they walk through the door.
