Economy Inn Sylva

It's a fantastic location in Sylva and being on the river was really nice

I like the location and the price

They didn’t have an ice machine and there wasn’t a back porch on the creek like I thought

Great location, a 5 minute walk from downtown restaurants and craft breweries. Quiet, decent beds, a place to picnic on the Scotts creek. Excellent value for the money, friendly staff, and parking right in front of my room. Sylva is a great destination town and the key to enjoying it is to be an easy walk from all the fun. All non-smoking motel, fridge and microwave in the room. What more does anyone need?

Bed spacing could have been improved to allow easier access to the vanity and clothes hanging rack. Nothing to add.

The price was very reasonable, especially for the location. It’s a very practical choice if you’re visiting Western Carolina University, with easy access for move-in, move-out, and regular visits. The hotel is also within walking distance of downtown Sylva, which is great for getting food, drinks, and doing some shopping without having to drive. I also really enjoyed the creek behind the property. It’s beautiful, and the sound of the water is very peaceful and relaxing. Overall, the combination of the reasonable price, convenient location, walkability to downtown Sylva, and proximity to WCU makes this a great option for my needs. As a parent who makes regular trips to the university throughout the school year, I would definitely stay here again.

The property is definitely older and shows some wear and tear. The room was very muggy and hot when we arrived because the AC had been turned off, although thankfully it cooled down quickly. The room setup is a little tight, and having the sink outside the bathroom takes some getting used to. The bathroom door was difficult to close and had some noticeable staining on the back. We also found a couple of spiders in the room, and after a couple of nights we noticed quite a few drain flies in the bathroom. The hotel also seems to skimp a bit on towels and toilet paper, so you may find yourself wishing there were a few more of both. None of these things were deal-breakers for me, but they are worth knowing about when deciding what to expect from the property.
