Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Burlington by IHG

We liked the shower, which had twice as much pressure as a previous hotel at which we had stayed during our trip. We truly appreciated the refrigerator in our room. The hotel clerk (I don't remember his name) was very outgoing and courteous.

We chose to not eat any of the breakfast items. First, my wife and I have dietary restrictions (no pork or seafood, plus she has celiac disease), but the food that had been set out was not labeled and we aren't about to guess at what we're eating (neither of us likes cereal). An employee came in and brought either food or juice (can't remember for sure what she brought), but she was apparently too busy and hurried to look at anyone--otherwise, I would have asked her some questions. I then noticed there was one apple in a fruit basket, but when I picked it up, I observed what appeared to be a bruised spot where I'm guessing a worm had been, so I could only wonder how much attention/care is given to what is set out. I would say the breakfast options were the worst part of our otherwise enjoyable stay. We only stopped in Burlington so we could visit our niece and her husband; they later told us the hotels in this area are so pricey because it's near a casino. We don't gamble, so if we had known of a less expensive hotel away from the casino, we would have booked our room there instead.

Comfy, clean and fresh. I had eggs and pancakes with honey for brekfast and the water was surprisingly good.

I am European and I am not used to people walking in their homes with outdoors shoes on. This will allways bother me somehow even though for a long time I've known it to be a custom here in the USA. And maybe cause if I would do that in Europe I would be scolded by a very angry lady with a mop or a cleaning cloth. That's the only reason for not 4 stars in clean. Everything else was superbly clean, well set and staff was very diligence. So maybe the 3 stars are in my moms honor and to make her proud.
