About this house rental
The "Pink Pelican" was completely renovated in June 2020. We recently replaced living room furniture as well to seat more people. This 4 bedroom, 2 bathroom house is perfect for your family getaway. Downstairs consist of 2 bedrooms, 1 King, 1 Queen + a full size crib, and a spacious bathroom. Upstairs has 2 bedrooms, 1 King, 1 Queen and 1 Twin and a spacious bathroom. All mattresses are Tuft & Needle and have mattress protectors on them. All 4 bedrooms have smart TVs, as well as the living room. You will be able to stream from your favorite serivces on all tvs. All TVs also have the Sling App for basic cable use. The kitchen is equipped with all of the things you will need. Enjoy sitting on the new deck with your coffee or cocktail and listen to the peaceful ocean waves. For those with little ones, we installed a locking gate at the top of the deck. We do not provide linens; guest will have to bring their own sheets and towels. Linens can also be rented from Sharon's Linens. If you wish to rent linens, please let me know when booking as we set it up through our cleaners for a seamless process. Additionally, they offer beach gear and additional baby gear if needed. We have a high chair, booster seat, full size crib, and baby gate for families staying with small children. Publix and Food Lion are located on the island and less than 5 minutes from our house. We have a list in the beach house of our favorite places to order take out or go eat at! Absolutely no pets or smoking. Renters must be 25 years of age. Summer rentals are done weekly Saturday-Saturday. Summer season is considered Mid June to Mid August. Off season is available with a 2 night minimum stay.

This home exceeded our expectations. It looked just like the photos & comfortably accommodated 9 of us. The ocean view was amazing & beach access was right next to the property. Gaining access to the property was so easy & the home was clean upon arrival. The host quickly responded to any questions we had. Grocery stores & shopping are just a couple miles away. Would definitely recommend!

We had such a fun girls weekend in Oak Island. The Pink Pelican was a fantastic place to stay. The house was adorable and had everything we needed to be comfortable. Close to so many things to do. I will keep it on my list of places to stay.

Absolutely wonderful stay. This is a perfect house for families, and the location could not have been better. Great communication from the host. LOVED the bedroom arrangements, giving us several options for kids/no kids/teen. Spacious and inviting common space. And did I mention the location? ;) We will definitely be keeping this house on our list for future trips to Oak Island. Thank you for hosting!

We loved our stay at the Pink Pelican! The proximity to the beach was amazing and the house was perfect for our family. Everything was stocked well and made for a wonderful weekend. Hopefully we can visit again in the future!

We have stayed here before and as always the house is perfect for a relaxing getaway and the location cannot be beat. The house is cozy, comfortable, well laid out, and the kitchen is well appointed. You cannot beat the location! Sitting on the back deck relaxing is one of our favorite things to do. We will be back!

Our family of 4 adults and 2 children enjoyed our visit at Pink Pelican. Kitchen was well stocked, comfortable beds, and great oceanfront location.
Kids got to see a fox on the dunes, a large pod of porpoises/dolphins, pelicans feeding, beautiful sunrises and sunsets all just steps away from the house. An unexpected local festival in a nearby park afforded them a visit with Santa and Mrs Claus, pirates and local police, fire and military personnel and bouncy houses which totally blew them away!
Perfect weather, only disappointment was the turtle hatchlings were over for the season.

We love Oak Island, and The Pink Pelican was perfect for us ( 6 adults and 3 young kids). Plenty of room. We loved being right on the beach, and the back deck with rocking chairs was ideal for the evenings. Kitchen was well equipped and clean. Definitely recommend, and would love to come back again!

This might be the best beach house we have ever stayed in, it’s definitely going to be our new go to for visits to the island.
As for the location, I could not have asked for anything better. Easy access to the beach since you are directly next to public parking and have your own path to that entrance from the back deck. What more do you need.
The house itself was perfect as well, plenty of room for 6 adults and 3 small children. Kitchen was very nice and updated as listed, bathrooms ACTUALLY HAVE SHOWER HEADS THAT ARE BUILT FOR TALL PEOPLE. If you’re taller than 5’10” you know my pain when booking trips to anywhere at the beach, why they put them so low I’ll never know. There are some areas that could use some TLC but you’re staying at a beach house that is ocean front and has survived a few hurricanes….. it’s fine you’ll get over it.
Overall experience here was a 10/10. The views were perfect day and night. We made friends with a friendly crow and named him Jeffery. If you see him give him popcorn and potato chips, he will gently take them right out of your hand. He will also stare at you with his mouth open when he wants water. It’s silly but trust me it was apart of the experience that made our kids trip even better.
Melissa and Family are great hosts and like I said before we will definitely be booking with them again for next years trips

Two families and several kids. The kitchen was well stocked so we could feed all those kids! Melissa (the home owner) was very responsive to all my questions to help me pack (grill on site -no, muffin tin -yes). The walk to the beach is very short and if you stay late in summer turtles nest into hat area so these a small chance you get to see them hatch.

The house is very well equipped. I brought paper towels, toilet paper, dish soap, laundry soap, trash bags and dishwasher soap with me and was shocked to see the home owner provided all of this for their renters. The home was clean and the location can’t be beat!!

The listing is misleading. The photos depict a well maintained and clean property. The property was not clean nor is it maintained.
When we arrived the washing machine had items in and on it from the previous rental. They were heavily soiled. There was a dirty loofah in the shower from the previous rental. I did contact the owner about this and she replied that the cleaning company does not involve themselves with the laundry room. This raised another issue. Who washes the blankets, shams and bed covers? We did purchase bed linens and towels from the owners service, however, we were informed that the service has until 6:00 to delivery these items. The delivery then interrupts family time and delays preparing the rooms with linens. This sould be done prior to the allowed 3:00 check in. Overall, the property was dirty and showed no evidence that it had been cleaned.
The structure's interior wall paneling displayed numerous areas of water damage that was significantly raised and buckled on the surface. The sliding doors onto the deck are rotting and allow water to seep into the unit. The floor sags in areas due to this and becomes wet when it rains. There is mold around the downstairs bathroom sink. The downstairs shower has cracks around the shower surround and walls. It is not chalked properly.
We have rented properties for thirty years at numerous beaches along the eastern seashore and this property is one of the worst we have stayed in. The property is overpriced.

We really enjoyed our stay at Melissa’s home. The location & views were perfect. We had our two daughters, two grandsons 8 & 11 and our granddaughter 1 1/2. The home was well equipped, the kitchen had everything we needed, and the home had plenty of space for the 7 of us. The beds were comfortable, and they even had a full size crib. We all loved spending time on the deck, it was great having the gates so we did not have to worry about the 1 1/2 year old near the stairs, but also having easy access to the beach. We will definitely stay here again. Thank you for sharing your lovely home. 🙂

We loved our weekend stay at the Pink Pelican. The house was incredibly clean, the beds were comfortable, the kitchen was well-stocked and the proximity to the beach simply can’t be beat! Melissa’s communication leading up to our stay let us know exactly what to expect when we arrived and she provided quick responses to any and all questions. 10/10 would recommend and would definitely stay here again!

We enjoyed our 6 nights here a few weeks ago. The location was perfect for enjoying the beach and taking a quick drive for food. The property was clean and spacious with everything we needed in the kitchen. The beds and pillows were comfortable. We will definitely stay here again if we're in the area.

The location is awesome! It is close to the pier, restaurants, and grocery stores. The home is beautiful and has everything you need. We really enjoyed the views from the deck and walking to the beach.

Perfect location on the beach- directly next to public access so less than a minute walk to the ocean! We would definitely stay again.

We had a wonderful time at the Pink Pelican beach house. The house is nicely renovated and is located in the best beach front location, with breathtaking views of the ocean & sunset. We had great communication with the owner and highly recommend this property to anyone looking for a little taste of paradise. We will definitely book again in the future!

We had such a great family weekend in OKI. The house was great - loved the easy access to the beach. We could watch our kids play in the sand from the comfort of the porch. Nothing like being oceanfront :) The house was clean and organized. We appreciated the labels on all the cabinets and drawers. Great communication from the owners. Great house, would rent again!

This was the second year our girls' group stayed in this home. It is in a great location with adjacent access to the beach. It was clean and comfortable. We appreciated the upgrades from last year. We plan to be back next year!

Great House
The house worked wonderfully well for us! We had three adult couples and two older teens. The house was bright and inviting. It was clean and comfortable. Loved the newer kitchen appliances. My husband loved how well the AC worked. :) Oak Island is such a relaxing, chill beach that we’ve been privileged to visit in the past six years. This was the best house we’ve stayed at yet.

Great stay!
Highly recommend the "pink house" (as our kids lovingly called it). We spent a weekend in early June with our 2 young children (ages 2 and 4) and ourselves. Location can't be beat!! Beautiful views from the front porch and just a short walk over the dune to the beach. Super convenient for quick stints at the beach and running back & forth for snacks, potty breaks, etc. House was very nicely decorated and clean. Kitchen was very well equipped! House was very kid-friendly as they have a high chair, crib, booster seats, baby gates, etc. Communication with the host was wonderful! Just a note: NO toiletries, towels or sheets are included. I knew this going in, but most rentals at least include a roll of TP in the bathroom or a starter pack of paper towels, soap, etc. There is none of that here, so make sure you plan accordingly. Would also love to see a couple of folding beach chairs included. But all little things that aren't a big deal as long as you know ahead of time. This was our first trip to Oak Island and we will definitely be back! Thanks for a great family vacation!
