The views of the Bacalar Lagoon from most areas of the hotel are absolutely beautiful and definitely the highlight of the stay.
The property is a 45 minute Walk from town. It’s somewhat difficult and time-consuming to get into town, though taxis make it easy enough to get back. Okay if you have a car. One big plus is that the hotel can arrange tours directly from their dock, which makes lagoon excursions very convenient.
On the downside, we experienced poor water pressure, and the amenities are quite basic. It’s a charming spot for the scenery, but don’t expect high-end comforts. If we had a car we would stay here again

perfect view on the lagoon, entrance to that same lagoon, place to park our car, nice pool, breakfast was very good, always 2 choices, fruit or daily menu, price was good for what we got.
Bacalar is a must visit, but if pool & lagoon entrance isn't a necessity then I would have chosen a hotel in the city center
next to the highway, including trucks 24/7
lacks some maintenance here and there, for example, the plastic cover of the power outlet missed, the water pressure was low and the painter could do some work here

The location was great! The beds were super comfortable and the pool was great for our kids!!
We are not use to the heat and it seems the AC was not able to maintain the cool atmosphere.

In front of the lagoon. Balcony and not far from town
Very hard to lock the door, the door to balcony extremely hard to open-close, broken safe box. The room they assigned for us was very small, dark and no lake view, the beds barely fit the room leaving no space for anything. We ended up having to pay about $150 US to upgrade to one of the two rooms facing the Lake. The pool has way too much chlorine so we only got in it once.
