The front-desk staff insisted that I scan a QR code and leave a rating during check-in—before I had even seen the room. He also pointed to his name tag and asked that I mention him in my comments.
The only service I received was a complimentary upgrade to a larger room, which didn’t add any real value for me as a solo traveler; a standard room would have been perfectly fine. When I entered the room, I was disappointed to find that the interior finishes and materials felt dated and worn.
Also, the short path leading to the hotel from the road was unpaved and rough, with small rocks and dirt, which made arrival less comfortable.
