Plenty of room, newly and tastefully refurbished, quirky furnishings, mindful quotes, tasty treats left. Friendly and pretty village, lovely pub (fab Sunday roast).
Very dark- take torch but also take telescope for lovely stars spotting.
Icy underfoot- no grit or salt, roads also treacherous . Needs gate at side and stair gate. No handle in bath. Pub closed Mon to Friday of our stay sadly.

Probably the best equipped self-catering accommodation we have stayed in, and a perfect location as well. If anything, the published description undersells the property, it is simply stupendous.
Castle Carrock is a perfect little village, there are no facilities other than the pub but what a pub, it's fantastic, lovely hosts, great beer and food. If you want a quiet break free from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, this is the place for you.

Only improvement could be a gate on the back garden at the side of the house so it was secure for our dog without being supervised.
