Hotel San Carlo, tra Bormio e Livigno

Nice restaurant within the hotel, limited, but accessible parking for motorcycles.

Stunning views, stunning location and very cosy and traditional. Sauna/steam room, hot tub with a Mountain View (€15 extra fee per person to use for 90 minutes) Balcony was very spacious though only had one chair on it between the two of us. No kettle in room. Overall, room just seemed a little dated and could do with some TLC which is such a shame as the place has such high potential.

Arrived at property and asked whether we could book to use sauna/spa at 7.30. Spa was booked for 8.30pm, we went for dinner and waited 25 minutes for our drinks order to be taken as reception staff were also waiting in the restaurant. By the time our dinner had arrived, it had eaten into almost 25 minutes of our spa time. Chicken was full of gristle and both chicken and veg was full of gristle, under seasoned and bland. However, the mushroom tagliatelle was exceptional and side portion of fries was huge. Staff seemed very over worked doing too many jobs at once. We rebooked the sauna for the following morning only for it to be ready 25 minutes after the time allotted meaning that we only had an hour in the spa, we did feel slightly rushed with the experience but overall it was still enjoyable and very highly maintained area. Tripping hazard in bedroom with floorboards coming apart from one another - reception were notified. Late check-out was offered as a condolence but didn’t seem to have been communicated between members of reception staff/cleaners. Lead to cleaning staff walking in when I was in the shower and my partner was getting changed which left me uncomfortable. Reception staff seemed confused that we were leaving late without paying a late fee. Overall, room just seemed a little dated and could do with some TLC and some slight communication issues which is such a shame as the place has such high potential.

The hotel staff were nice. It was clean the view is worth it. The size is also good! The reception is very helpful.

We didn't like the breakfast and dinner. You need to pay then for eating in the restaurant because they served utensils and plates. The food in the pizzeria was bland not the Italy experience we were expecting and breakfast was not good only breads and cakes all sweet, there were not enough glasses, plates and utensils . The waiter was weirdly unprofessional and only taking account for himself instead of apologizing for the whole company. We did not eat dinner on the 2nd night since it was absolutely not worth and it's overpriced.
