This property is in the perfect spot for going to the beach, NYC, an event at MetLife Stadium and a quiet getaway. The rental was beautiful, well equipped and maintained. Would definitely recommend this for a summer vacation! Gorgeous sunsets, ferry to NYC within minutes, cool evening breezes and wonderful beaches all in one place.

We are so fortunate to be able to stay right in Fort Hancock in this charming property. The house was comfortable and clean. The seals were at the bay for the winter. Dan was available to answer any questions we had. We love exploring the Fort, the bay, and the beach. There are so many areas to take long walks. Winter is a great time to be at Sandy Hook. It is a beautiful area to visit.

Very nice area. House was good! There are pathways to walk and ride bikes. Lots of wildlife. Seemed like we were in the wilderness but only a 40 minute ferry ride to NYC. Owner was easy to deal with and very helpful!

What a fantastic little gem! This property was exactly what we required and more. Clean, updated, comfortable and spacious. It had a wonderful mix of modern conveniences and historic field. Quiet natural setting was peaceful and relaxing. I absolutely will be returning.

This is not the Jersey Shore vacation I imagined; it was so much more! The house is located on a historic Army base that is surrounded by national park reserve (don't be surprised or discouraged by the condition of the other buildings, hopefully they will one day be returned to their previous glory like this one!). The combination of these two things makes for an incredible vacation spot with history, hiking, sky line views of New York, and tons of beach!!! On top of that, the location removes you from the business while still having access to almost anything you could want to do. Our kids especially loved the loft/attic bedroom that they got to stay in. The adults loved the front porch! We all just absuletly loved it!!! Thanks for an amazing vacation!

Loved the shore cottage feel of our Sergeant's home which overlooked the bay. A plus that our friend's family was also renting the duplex property across the field too! We have always loved Sandy Hook for its nature preserve and quiet without the bustle of a boardwalk. Who needs arcades and rides when you have a coastline bike trail and so much history to discover? The home was lovely, clean. I especially loved the comfort of the bed, an amazing respite while on vacation. We enjoyed playing ping pong and Connect 4 along with our treks to the sandbars with our dog. Truly a Jersey gem!

We loved walking around early morning before people started coming into the park. We plan to visit again for a longer time. It was a perfect relaxing weekend getaway.

We enjoyed our weeklong stay on the hook. The weather was exceptional and we enjoyed sitting on the front porch. The house was clean, bed very comfortable and the air conditioner worked like a charm. Dan quickly got back to me and answered my questions and concerns.

Great house in a really special and unusual location. Amazing birdwatching and bike riding. Our large group (7 adults, 1 kid, 1 dog) had a great time here. The place was clean, communication was thorough and easy. Dan is a wonderful host.

Wonderful place! Very quiet location in a nicely renovated historic house. Like the first reviewer, I was struck by how much it felt like I was in a Hopper painting. Maybe it is the way the seaside light comes in all the original glass and plays on the old woodwork? Dan has done a great job bringing this place back to life and was very responsive before and during our stay. The beds are cushy with built in pillow-like mattress toppers, and kitchen is big and modern. Having access to Fort Hancock day and night is a real pleasure, with osprey nesting on all the old chimneys and deer wandering around in the evenings.

The views from this newly refurbished officer’s row house are stunning. The light at sunset is magic. The inside is beautifully appointed with brand new appliances. The sunshine comes into the master bedroom in the afternoon and looks like a hopper painting.
