The moment you step through the front door of Whistle Run, you’ll feel as though you’ve entered your own private mountain treehouse—nestled among towering 100-foot pine trees and surrounded by the spectacular Colorado peaks of the Animas Valley. Perched on 3 private acres, Whistle Run offers a rare combination of soaring mountain views, majestic pines, privacy, and tranquility.

The setting is truly extraordinary. Towering pine trees rise around the home while unobstructed mountain vistas stretch out before you, creating the magical feeling of being high in the treetops with the mountains unfolding in every direction. And because the views are visible from every room, the scenery actually feels like it comes into the house becoming a part of the home itself.

This beautifully appointed 2,900-square-foot, single-level home was designed to take full advantage of its remarkable setting. Whether you’re waking up in the morning, preparing dinner, relaxing in the living room, soaking in the primary suite, or gathering with family and friends, you’re never far from the beauty of the Colorado mountains.

A Home Designed Around the View
Whistle Run features an open-concept floor plan with oversized rooms, abundant windows, and a warm, inviting mountain-ranch ambiance. The spacious living area provides plenty of room to relax and gather, with a leather sofa and leather swivel rocker recliners, club chairs, and dining/ seating for 8–10 guests

A 75" Samsung Smart TV with Blu-ray/DVD player provides entertainment when you’re not captivated by the scenery outside. Each bedroom also has its own Samsung Smart TV, and high-speed Wi-Fi and streaming capabilities are available throughout the home.

The home comfortably accommodates up to six guests in three generously sized bedrooms. Two luxurious king bedrooms—including the primary suite—feature private en-suite bathrooms. The oversized third bedroom has two twin beds that can be converted to a king upon request, with a dedicated bathroom conveniently located just across the hall.

Your Private Mountain Sanctuary
The primary suite is designed to be a true retreat, with breathtaking mountain views, a two-person soaking tub, and an oversized steam shower for two. A large walk-in closet and peaceful surroundings complete this private sanctuary.
For guests who need to work or stay connected, Whistle Run also offers two dedicated workspaces, including a beautiful antique roll-top desk with printer.

A Chef’s Kitchen Made for Gathering:
Because Whistle Run is also our personal home, the chef’s kitchen is exceptionally well equipped. You’ll find high-quality cookware, appliances, serving pieces, and nearly anything you need to prepare everything from a leisurely breakfast to a memorable gourmet dinner.
Gather around the kitchen, sit down to a long dinner with friends, or simply pour yourself a glass of wine or a cup of coffee and enjoy one of the best views in the house.

Watch the Historic Train Go By
One of Whistle Run’s most unique features is its location alongside a beloved piece of Colorado history—the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad.
Imagine relaxing on the deck beneath towering pines when you hear the unmistakable whistle of the historic steam locomotives. Moments later, the train emerges along the eastern portion of the backyard below, chugging past as passengers wave from the cars. Guests love waving back to the passengers and conductors as the train passes.
It’s a quintessential Durango experience—and one you can enjoy right here from your own private mountain retreat.

Outdoor Living in the Colorado Mountains
Step outside and you’ll discover expansive decks, a large patio with steps leading down to the firepit by the tracks - outdoor dining areas, and two fire pits, all tucked among the towering pines and surrounded by the incredible beauty of the Animas Valley.
Enjoy your morning coffee beneath 100-foot pines while watching the hummingbirds and the mountains come alive, dine outdoors as the sun sets over the valley, or gather around the fire beneath a spectacular Colorado night sky to watch shooting stars.

With your Private Mountain Getaway you have exclusive access to the entire home, laundry room, large private driveway, and backyard areas. The spacious driveway provides ample parking and can easily accommodate recreational equipment, including large trailers, bicycles, kayaks, and other “big toys.”
The owner’s garage and basement are the only areas not available to guests.
