a lovely calm gem,
nice internal spaces to relax (gets cool in evening at 2400m)
amazingly friendly and helpful staff throughout hostel, and for value tours - pickup at door
dorm i was in was previously a room, but so many good things: spacious, quiet, great beds, large bathroom with hot spacious shower (not like the tight squeeze in some other stays) - ladders are narrow, and top bunks high (i must have missed internal pic)
great cleaning, was even surprised that dorm sheets were changed day 3
simple but relaxing roof terrace with view over town, wifi, power outlet, clothes line, good guest kitchen there as well,
10 min walk from town centre, with slight slope near hostel - but thats a way to explore different streets
suggestions:
- each dorm bed needs a hook to hang towel; dorm locking of valuables is only possible at front desk
-on roof terrace, a few more chairs and another table would be good, kitchenette needs label system & clearing - i removed some food that was clearly very old

One of the best places I’ve stayed in Peru for the money. Amazing value. A short walk to the center, great breakfast made to order, comfy beds, and very hospitable staff and atmosphere. I don’t think there’s a better place in Chachapoyas. The staff also helped us organize a tour to Kuelap for a great price. Cannot recommend highly enough.

Donna and her team are absolutely wonderful, I have never been made to feel more welcome at a hotel. The building itself is beautiful, colonial in style with lovely communal spaces including a peaceful roof terrace with views of Chachapoyas. There is also a well equipped, clean, communal kitchen available. I stayed in a dorm and a private room during my time here. Both were excellent- clean, spacious, thoughtfully designed, with comfortable cosy beds. The showers had reliable hot water with excellent pressure. The private room was such good value for money. The breakfast (included with private rooms, 15 soles if you book a dorm) is the perfect start to the day and includes tea/coffee, a fruit salad, eggs and bread & jam. I cannot recommend Chachapoyas Backpackers more wholeheartedly and wish I had more time to spend here!
