We really enjoyed our stay at Labrize Studio in La Gaulette. The location, set back from the main road, is wonderfully quiet, with lovely views of the sea through the trees and the mountains behind.
The balcony was a real highlight, perfect for morning coffee and breakfast, and for enjoying a few beers in the evening while watching the sunset.
We loved this area of Mauritius so much that we’ll be returning during our long-stay trip. The studio itself felt spacious, bright and airy, with tasteful décor and excellent ventilation. At this time of year, we hardly needed to use the air conditioning at all. We hired a car so that we could visit the nearby beaches, towns and villages, and of course the stunning gorges national park. This area provides a perfect mix of mountains and sea activities - but the car is, we think, needed. Labrize provides off street parking which is a further bonus.
Nunjay is a great host and was very accommodating, arranging an early check-in after our very early flight arrival. The welcome tray with drinks and snacks was also a lovely touch and very much appreciated.
If you stay here, we highly recommend trying the local food at Bibi’s - their noodles were the best we found locally!
Overall, a fabulous stay in a lovely location. We really enjoyed our time here and can’t wait to return!

Le logement était propre dans un lotissement calme. Les sites à visiter aux alentours sont faciles d'accès.
A recommander si vous souhaitez visiter les montagnes environnantes et la plage de Le Morne Bradant.

Host was there for the handover. Helpful person. Location within walking distance of the village supermarket - a big one. The bus runs along the coast with a bus stop not far away. Good restaurant also nearby. On quiet road just a short walk from the main coast road.
This is not the part of the coast for sandy beaches. Need to go north or south to find them. Flic en Flac is north, Le Morne is south.

Avec mon conjoint, nous avons aimé la localisation du logement. Facile d’accéder : au Morne pour y faire la randonnée jusqu’au sommet, à la plage du Morne, aux restaurants et street food sur la rue principale, au London Way pour faire les courses, aux points de départs pour certaines excursions.
Le lit est également très confortable donc permet de bien se reposer.
- Nous avons pris ce logement pour avoir également accès à une machine à laver étant donné que nous étions au milieu de notre voyage. Malheureusement, pas de machine à notre arrivée. Nunjay nous a dit qu’elle arrivait dans l’après-midi, mais lorsqu’elle a été livré, elle n’a pas été branché donc impossible de l’utiliser. Le plombier devait passer le lendemain mais n’est pas venu. Il a fallu attendre le surlendemain, veille de notre départ donc impossible de faire une machine, notre linge n’aurait pas été sec. Nunjay nous a proposé la veille de notre départ de nous laver notre linge mais idem, il n’aurait pas pu sécher. Dommage sur ce point là.
- il y a également une odeur désagréable en sortant sur le palier de la porte qui pénètre parfois côté salle de bain du logement. Alors le logement était très propre avec une odeur très fort de sent-bon. On se demande si ce n’était pas pour cacher l’odeur…
- La vue paraissait plus jolie sur les photos…
En comparaison des trois autres logements que nous avons eu sur l’île (via Airbnb, celui de Nunjay est le seul que nous avons pris sur Booking), c’était vraiment le moins bien. Les autres étaient proches de nous, plus accueillants, avec des petites intentions (rien qu’une bouteille d’eau au frais par exemple..), davantage dans l’échange (Nunjay n’a même pas répondu à notre dernier message lui indiquant que nous avions laissé l’appartement, c’est vraiment dommage, ça aurait pu changer la donne…).
Je ne recommande pas vraiment ce logement, je pense que nous pouvons trouver mieux (nous l’avons fait avec les 3 autres).
