Mitchel Cabin, built in 1870 by William Butler Garrett and lovingly restored log-by-log by his great-great-granddaughter and family—who meticulously marked, moved, and reconstructed the original structure—this historic 1-bedroom, 1-bath farmhouse cottage directly connects guests to rich local family heritage. Passing through generations to Garrett's great-grandson, Dr. William E. Mitchell, the home now seamlessly pairs authentic 19th-century logs with modern comforts, featuring an open-concept living room with a fireplace, a fully equipped kitchen, a full bath, and a queen bedroom. Outside, a covered porch, fire pit, and picnic area overlook a gorgeous mountain farm setting, offering a private couples' getaway just minutes from downtown Bryson City.

I really enjoyed my stay at the Mitchell Cabin. The location is fantastic for exploring Bryson City and the Great Smoky Mountains. The cabin was easy to find and is across the road from the owners goat farm. There is a grocery store about 10 minutes away. I came to hike and found several amazing trails of various difficulty, all within a 30 minute drive.The cabin is very clean, has wifi and modern appliances, is historical and decorated nicely. You can tell how much love went into the renovation of this family cabin. The bed was very comfortable and the shower had plenty of pressure and hot water. Although there was a nice fire pit out back, I didn't get to use it because of rain. My only complaint is that the wood burning fireplace has been replaced with a gas fireplace. Although there were no instructions on how to start it, I called Yellow Rose and the owners came over and showed me immediately. I enjoyed getting to meet them and get some more history on the cabin. Great customer service. The big downside is that the new gas fireplace heats up the house so much in such a short amount of time, that you almost can't even use it. I would have preferred the original wood burning fireplace, but understand why the owners would want to change it. Overall this was a fantastic stay and I highly recommend staying here!
