This hotel ticks all the important boxes: a warm welcome, a clean room, reliable air con, and enough hot water to make you question your environmental credentials. Tucked away on a quiet side street, it offered a peaceful night's sleep, while the fantastic pizza provided an excellent excuse not to go anywhere else. Friendly, helpful staff and a family-friendly atmosphere make it a great choice for groups watching their budget.
The hotel got plenty right: friendly staff, clean rooms and enough hot water to wash a bicycle. Sadly, that bicycle cost me €5 a night to store in the garden, where the gate was then left open for much of the evening, making security feel rather theoretical. As a cyclist setting off before 7am, I also discovered that a fully laid breakfast buffet remains a strictly decorative feature until the official opening time. Add €2 bottles of water during a 30-40°C heatwave, coupled with advice not to drink the tap water, and hydration started feeling like a premium add-on. The evening buffet was certainly plentiful, although by Italian standards the flavours seemed to have taken an early checkout. Still, if you're looking for quantity, comfort and a few stories to tell afterwards, you'll leave satisfied.

Friendly staff, nice breakfast. The shower also works well and does not make a mess with water like many modern showers do.
