The only regret we have is that our stay was just overnite, next time we will stay longer!
We really enjoyed our stay at Whitetail creek resort. The deluxe cabin was great. We loved the sound of the creek right outside of the door, and the whole experience was very relaxing. We were traveling by motorcycle, and our next leg was up through Spearfish Canyon. This was just a short ride from the resort to Cheyene Crossings (great breakfast) which is at the south end of the Spearfish Canyon ride.
When we booked our stay at the cabin, we were under the impression that the standard cabin had electric. When we arrived, we found that we had to upgrade to the deluxe cabin (we needed electric to run my c-pap machine). This misunderstanding was the fault of the online booking agency, not Whitetail Creek Resort.

Not worth the money
Easy check in
Bungalow is a glorified garden shed. No electricity, battery operated lights. No linens or pillows. Toilet and shower were on other end of property. Toilet was out of order and only 1 shower stall. There was a port a potty to use. When walking up small incline to shed at night the motion detection lights didn't always work. Make sure you have a flashlight. Parking spot is not convenient for unloading car. Have to carry everything across parking and up small hill.

Very cute lodge-cabin, clean, surrounded by woods, close to Deadwoods
We rented a little plain cute cabin, (without electricity), and they provided us with flashlights and lanterns and motion detector lights in the outside. I had my own liners although they offered/provided us with towels. Indoor cabin was shiny clean; had big & comfy bunker beds, shelf and seats, with also a basket with some toiletries. Bathroom and shower house are ok, they are far from the cabin to go during the night, although there is a porta-potty nearby. It's relatively close to Deadwoods, (about 10 minutes driving). The no-electricity cabin are by the woods, next to a little creek, -I loved it, very relaxing to hear the creek running and the birds chirping-.!!
Just a suggestion: I would mark the entrance-driveway during the night a little better, although the parking lot has lights, it's hard to see the entrance when you are coming at night from the Deadwood area on the highway. The road (Highway 14a/ route 85) is totally dark, and since the resort is on your left, is hard to see the actual entrance/driveway. Since I had cars behind me I couldn't slow down enough to see it to do my left entrance on time and I missed it. Had to drive along the 85 enough to find a spot to U-turn and come back. Maybe a "neon" mark or flashing lights by the driveway entrances to distinguish them at night.
