The location. The welcome. The details in the house. The space. The sunshine! The owner Rafael is a star. Helpful and engaging. Kind and polite. Even drove my family to the bus station. The house is inside the walls - it has three bedrooms and a lounge with a balcony and a practical kitchen. Fresh eggs and bread with fruit were provided! The garden sprawls outwards from the steps. Its a great place. With a great host. ☆☆☆☆☆ We were rushing round Portugal but the one place that has captured our hearts was this place. I think after a week here you'd forget all about the stresses of life!
Hard to be critical. Maybe make the main bed bigger and put cushions on outdoor chairs. But Rafael is constantly improving and making the house even better. I'd come back in a heart beat.

Rafael is a wonderful host and met us on arrival (twice, as myself and my sister arrived separately). He was so kind, giving us history of his home and the local area, as well as some tips for dining. Highly recommend this as a place to stay with a family, a magical place with a really comfortable and well located base within the castle walls. Kitchen really well equipped, couple of large supermarkets nearby (Rafael even offered to help us with our shopping). Nearby towns are really cute to visit, and there are nice beaches an Uber ride away. We will come back some day and will definitely stay at Rafael's house!

It’s a wonderful family home in the heart of the medieval castle, with very nice indoor and outdoor spaces.

The most generous host we've ever come across! Rafael provided everything we could possibly have needed or wanted. The house is big, located within the city walls, and like a carefully nurtured time capsule of Portuguese life 60 years ago (except with mod cons!) There are different sitting areas in the spacious backyard, where we sat for our meals. We were centrally located to explore this amazing town and walked everywhere, including a circumnavigation on the town walls. We loved everything and wouldn't hesitate to visit Rafael again if we return to Obidos.
We liked everything! Rafael made our stay very easy and enjoyable.
