Upsetting start to our family holiday (first time to Disney/Paris) - unsafe/unsuitable apartment
Absolutely appalling - arrived with my partner and two daughters after a very long day of travelling and had to book alternative accommodation (which i did out of loyalty via booking.com) as Le Petit Victor Hugo was unsafe/unsuitable to stay in for the 4 nights we had booked (Wed 27 - Sun 31 Aug).
TO BE CLEAR I HAVE NEVER FORMALLY COMPLAINED / REQUESTED A REFUND SO THIS IS A GENUINE COMPLAINT AND A REFUND IS THE LEAST THAT SHOULD BE DONE.
First priority on realising accommodation was unsuitable was to book an alternative so i could put my children to bed (Best Western Hotel Grand Parc, approx £450, staff there were great, especially given circumstances).
Second priority was to register complaint to booking.com and ask how to pursue a refund/formally complain. I did this first thing the next morning (Thu 28th Aug), received an automated reply advising I'd be contacted by customer services in the next 24hrs. They emailed me yesterday - Thu 11th Sep - 14 days to make contact is very bad customer services. Evidence can be provided.
Thirdly, I exchanged messages with the person who manages the apartment who accused me of staying in the apartment until the next day and said there was nothing wrong with the accommodation. Evidence can be provided.
I called booking.com today (Fri 12 Sep) to find out what was happening and they told me there wouldn't be a refund (£285) but had sent €40 compensation in credit to my booking.com account. Unacceptable. On expressing my frustration on this, the agent put the phone down.
