Very disappointing and stressful stay — different accommodation than booked, extra money requested, and extremely unprof

Nothing

Extremely disappointing experience – I did not feel comfortable or safe during my stay I have been using Booking.com for a long time, and unfortunately this was one of the worst experiences I have ever had with an accommodation booked through the platform. First, the apartment I received was not the same apartment that I booked and expected based on the listing. I ended up being asked to pay more money, despite already having a confirmed booking. What made the situation much worse was the way I was treated when I tried to discuss the problem. During a phone conversation, the host was shouting and screaming at me, threatened to kick me out of the accommodation, and then hung up the phone on me. After that incident, I spent the rest of my stay feeling uncomfortable and worried that something might happen or that another problem would be created. When you are travelling, your accommodation should be the place where you feel comfortable and secure, not somewhere you are constantly worried about what the host might do next. There were also staff members who asked me for tip money, which I found extremely unprofessional and uncomfortable. The biggest issue for me was not simply the apartment. Problems and misunderstandings can happen anywhere. It was the combination of receiving accommodation different from what I booked, being asked for additional money, the way the host communicated with me, the threat of being removed, and the overall treatment throughout the stay. I deliberately waited until I had completely checked out before writing this review because, after the way the host spoke to me, I did not feel comfortable making a complaint while I was still staying at the property. As someone who has used Booking.com for many years, this experience was extremely disappointing. I hope Booking.com reviews this property and the conduct of the host carefully. I am sharing my experience so that other travellers can make an informed decision before booking.
