Hotel De Cielo

If your priority is having an incomparable view of the mountains this place cannot be beat. Having your own cabin is pretty cool and the reception area is very cute. We saw a lot of animals and felt close to nature. We had a small rental car and did not have any problems getting to and from the hotel, even if it was a little bumpy at times. I can’t imagine staying there without having a car, most things are at least an hour away but it was not too bad for us as we knew this ahead of time and felt the view was worth it! The dinner at the hotel is not cheap but very delicious, which is great because it’s really your only option. The staff was wonderful and attentive. They recommended a private driver for a day of wine tasting and he was professional, kind and safe.

Some aspects of the room could use a little bit of upkeep to make it a more luxurious experience. Make sure the pool will be open when you plan to stay there!

Nothing. I loved everything

We liked the breakfast and dinner onsite. The location looking at the mountains on The estancia is also really nice. Staff were attentive and pleasant for the most part during meals

Unfortunately, this stay was deeply disappointing and nowhere near worth the price charged. The biggest issue was cleanliness. The room was not properly cleaned: we found hair on the floor, in the shower, in the sink, and even in the bed linen. That alone is unacceptable at any price point. On top of that, there were serious maintenance and safety problems. In our first room, water was dripping through the roof during rain, and the glass of the skylight window was damaged. Another window was also damaged, and rainwater leaked underneath it, creating a puddle next to the bed at night—an obvious slipping hazard. The bathroom installations were poorly executed and felt unsafe: the shower rail was loosely attached and nearly came out of the wall with the wall plugs, hooks were crooked and loose, and the sink faucet was completely unstable and seemingly “fixed” with silicone. Even the hot/cold water connections were reversed. The shower tiles were slippery due to soap residue, and the overall tiling work was uneven and sloppy, with some tiles protruding and joints crudely covered with silicone. The pool area was also not usable: there was heavy algae growth and many missing tiles. The wooden deck around the pool was in poor condition as well, with swollen and broken boards. Inside the room, the furniture was worn and damaged, with multiple swollen and chipped edges. The Wi-Fi did not work in the room. Operationally, things did not improve. On our last day there was a power outage across the property for about an hour. Afterwards, electricity could not be restored in our room, so we had to change rooms again the day before departure. We were only informed via a short WhatsApp message, and when we returned to the reception the staff seemed overwhelmed and unable to coordinate the room change smoothly. One additional point for transparency: the internal paths on the property and the access road are rough gravel roads with deep potholes and steep sections.
