Overnight stop. Breakfast excellent.
The hotel, being very old and rambling, we (and other guests) found it difficult to find our way back to our room. Without having asked a passer-by, we would probably have overshot the narrow car park entrance. We entered from the car park at the rear of the hotel but had to find a convoluted pathway to the reception by the front entrance. The hotel could have better signage on the ground floor to indicate where to find the bedroom numbers. Booking.com could have clearer directions for finding the car park. Also, we would have like to have had dinner in the restaurant but there was a pre-booked 7-course menu. So we had to find an alternative restaurant.

Clean, great location, friendly & helpful staff. Exceptional breakfast.
Had to go back 3-4 times as the card wouldn’t work on the room door. Even late at night after we were told the issue had been resolved. Also there were a couple of large functions on that we were unaware of, the car park was full so had to find alternate parking ourselves.

The staff were very helpful. The decor was very good especially the Paul Benbow pictures, a local Cheshire artist. Rooms were comfortable and the the restaurant was very well done, good selection of drinks at the bar. Having a car park was also good.
The room on the first night was a little noisy - we're light sleepers - so the staff gave us a differnt room straight away which was very quiet. Very good service.
