Bad price-value relationship
The hotel has a good location.
The price was high compared to the service and room that we received. The wifi didn't work. The staff people were grim. In particular one rude guy that was claiming me why there was nobody in the reception and why the door was opened, like it was my fault, then he just slammed the door and left. Someone can definitely find something better at this price.

Super pleasant stay if you don't need too many amenties.
Very simple place with hardly any amenities but I loved it there! Located 2 minutes walk from the central square where the bus station is, it was very convenient for everything except the beach. When the staff was there they were always very friendly and helpful. When the light bulb in the bathroom burnt out, I called the number (which I had found in internet) and it was changed within the hour. My lesser problem with the light switch remained however but I got used to just pressing it for a minute until it worked. In fact everything always somehow worked. In the morning I walked over to the entry area and got hot water for my tea. There was bottled water, instant coffee, creamer, tea, cookies available 24/7. There was contact with the other hotel guests as all the rooms were accessed from the central court. It was beautifully kept with lots of plants and most rooms had a small table and a couple of chairs outside which I made ample use of because it was sooo pleasant to sit there. Internet worked very well, the bed was great, shower trickled but was always warm (except the last morning). Lots of good places to eat nearby. In fact the best - Wala Wala was only two doors down! The furniture was lovely from real wood and metal and with a sort of Aztec Sun God sort of theme.
Because my SIM card didn't work when I arrived in Mexico and I didn't know which bus I would get I couldn't let the hotel know when I would arrive in San Blas. When I arrived at 1 PM the door was locked and no one was there. I went one block to the central square, bought an ice cream (fantastic!) and a SIM card and then went to McDonald Restaurant for a Corona (also a great restaurant!) which was within sight of the hotel and waited. Nothing happened..... I called the telephone number displayed on the front door but only got a message in Spanish which I didn't understand so with my new SIM card I found another telephone number and spoke to a real person. In the meantime two people were wanting to help as everybody knows everybody there but soon someone did come. This should be better organized so be ready. Generally the hotel (as with most things I saw there) were beautifully constructed with loving detail but older and not renovated but only sort of patched up... Light switches, walls, furniture, etc. But everything did work (except for a broken chair). The bathroom was large enough but had only a hole in the ceiling where the fresh air seemed to be supposed to come in and all around it was black mold (on the white walls). The place to hang up clothes was also in that room which was a design mistake but the climate is very dry there (in February at least) so it didn't disturb me. I would have liked a few more hangers and a place to put my toiletry bag other than the floor but it was a cheap stay and for that price, I couldn't complain. I did wish there was a screen on the window though because I had a problem with mosquitos.

Good
Central location, quiet pleasant courtyard, free tea / coffee / water, reasonable price
Hotel was locked up when we arrived and part of the facade appeared semi-derelict on arrival, with just a phone number to get somebody to open up. They arrived within 5 minutes. Not a good first impression, but the hotel was fine once we were in.
