Location was good. In the heart of chinatown near the mosque, but far away enough from the bustling tourist areas. Decent restaurants nearby, and easy to find. The host John was nice. Decent size inside, with places to dry clothes, and filter water from the tap. The showers were also not bad. Good air con in the dorm room, and lockers too.
The mosquitos were a big problem. Though a coil was burning they constantly pestered me in the downstairs area. They weren't as bad in the dorm room but you have to be on guard. There was a smell of drains downstairs.
Had to self check in, which was ok, but the host wasn't around much. Having to lock/unlock the door each time you left/entered the property was a bit inconvenient.
The beds were also super creaky!

The Guesthouse is a small, quiet property. Perfect for the price. The street is right off one of the main Malacca’s busy street. It is a good location to go everywhere, and Joe is very helpful, he replies quite fast to Whatsapp messages.

Good location as the hostel is at Jonker Street. The hostel is a pre-war old house and is quiet.
Lots of mosquitoes and the hostel need to clean up more often - floor was hardly moped, bed left unchanged after guest had checked out.. There's a thermos flask supposedly to provide guest with hot water but the host always turn it off.
