The cottage is really spacious for the price and in a great location for exploring the Northumberland coast. It was peaceful, comfortable and had an enclosed garden that our dog enjoyed. Although the owners were next door if we needed them, they were very respectful of our privacy and didn't disturb us. The kitchen is huge and had most things needed for a self catering holiday. Lovely hot shower and a welcomed bath for a long soak after a day of hiking. Lots of seating choices too and a lovely wooden dining set in the sunny back garden. Close to supermarkets if needed. I slept really well in the four poster bed. We drove down to Seaham beach to hunt for seaglass, up to Eyemouth in Scotland, where we saw seals and had delicious fish and chips at the harbour and out through the stunning Northumberland National Park to Kielder Forest on the border. Our favourite beach was Druridge, which is only about 15 minutes drive away. The cottage has lovely curb appeal and great parking too!

A few minor things to be aware of when staying here. There are 3 internal glass doors, which lead to the 2 conjoined properties (I think one was the owner's home and the other possibly another rental?) They are locked with a curtain on the other side of the doors. This felt a bit unnerving, but would have felt more comfortable if the doors were solid wood. I didn't see this info anywhere on Booking.com, it would be good to know I think. Also, there was no provision of basics for arrival, such as teabags/sugar. Other places that we have stayed have left a little welcome treat, which, although is never expected, does start a holiday with a smile after a long drive. A guest book would have been lovely too, I would have liked to add a thank you in there and some suggestions for other guests to visit.

The property was clean, practical and quirky. Plenty of storage, comfortable. The owner lived next door and was really nice. He took time to explain the quirky design which made us appreciate the property even more. We would definitely book this property again. Fantastic location, easy to find. The kitchen was well equipped. There are plenty of walks around the village if you have a dog. Or if not, there is a hide for birdwatching a 5 min walk across the road . Villagers were friendly. Some previous reviews stated about the stairs being an issue. I would say at these are original stairs they do have quirks. but add value to the experience of staying there. Wear footwear on stairs as socks only could be slippy. Gardens were well maintained and there was always somewhere to sit and catch the sunshine when it was out.

Splitting hairs with this one. The only slight tiny issue was we could not turn all the radiators down or off. It will be really cozy in the winter or on cold days. I would suggest that if ever upgrading the system to put and easy control or remote control for the heating system. It might save you some money on bills. To be fair though, I am sure if I mentioned it to the owner, I'm confident he would have perhaps changed a setting.

Amazing place, cosy and warm - we stayed in February and the weather was freezing, but it was lovely and warm inside! Great cottage with a cosy vibe! We really loved it. Had everything we needed. Comfy beds, space and lots of charm.

We didn't receive any reply to any messages sent via booking.com. which was fine. We got slightly lost on the way and tried calling the number provided - no response, no one called us back, but luckily our stay was trouble free.
