Cast Away Residence

We rented the whole house for our family trip. The house is great! 7 bedrooms, great AC, pool, right next to the beach. Staff was helpful. Would stay there again. Reccomended for families. They provided drinking water regulalry which was great. They prepared cut fruits for us each morning and the house came with basics like instant coffee, tea, etc.

The king sized bed on the 2nd floor had a very hard mattress. The rest of the beds were fine.

A Wonderful and Memorable Family Stay at Cast Away Residence Our family of four had a wonderful stay at Cast Away Residence in Kiwengwa from August 2–8, 2026. First of all, a huge thank-you to the entire staff who helped us throughout our stay and patiently answered my many questions. Special thanks to Chicu, with whom I had been communicating for about a week before our arrival about everything from our menu and transportation to all the little details and requests that come with a family trip. She was incredibly helpful and made the whole experience much easier for us. We also arranged our transportation through Chicu. Our driver and guide, Bulhani, was very helpful and accommodating, including taking us out for some local fruit shopping—which became another fun little Zanzibar experience for our family. Even during our relatively short stay, we managed to squeeze in two wonderful excursions: a Mnemba Atoll snorkeling trip and a full day visiting Stone Town and a traditional spice farm. Both were great additions to our relaxing time at the villa and gave us a chance to experience more of Zanzibar. A very special thank-you goes to Michael, the chef. We picked from a wide variety of dishes on the menu and were never disappointed. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner every day was almost too much food for my stomach, which had apparently shrunk after a week of our much more modest safari meals! Everything was fresh, plentiful, and prepared with care. The rest of the crew was amazing as well—from housekeeping and security to the people taking care of the pool and beautiful grounds. Everyone contributed to making us feel comfortable, welcome, and very well looked after. And then there is the villa itself. Seven bedrooms and eight bathrooms were definitely TOO MUCH for our family of four! We kept wishing that more of our friends and family were there to enjoy it with us. The property is right on the beach, with beautiful ocean views and a very peaceful and private atmos

The location is really nice. Even though the hotel itself is not really at the beach ( they have a beach bar and the hotel is like 100 m further), that beach is the best one we've seen in Zanzibar. The rooms were clean and food was decent. The ac was working fine and water in the shower was hot. Internet was good.

The biggest problem of this place is staff. Starting from the manager to the waiter you will not see any smile or welcoming. The service is extremely slow and careless, but the food was actually nice, which is a shame because it's the experience that matters most when you are on vacation. One time we had to wait almost 2 hours to be served. The room appliances are old and furniture in the room looks wornout. Towels and bedsheets had holes, which is really strange for the new hotel. The menus in the restaurant are written by hand on a piece of paper, but the hotel rules brosure is laminated, which defines the priorities of the hotel managment. And there is only 1 menu for the whole hotel. The is no sound isolation in the hotel so make sure you have earplugs. You will hear cutleries being placed for breakfast on the ground floor when you are sleeping and every move of your neighbors. This place could have been amazing, but.. I hope you will try to fix these things to make your hotel a better place. Good luck!
