Disappointed with the host David and his properties

Location was OK ... easy access to beach and local bars and restaurants but further south on Ave Boa Viagem is arguably a better location for those looking for a busier vibe ...eg Segundo Jardim. Short taxi/Uber ride to main shopping areas

NOVEMBER 2025 ... 18 night stay in Room 801 .... In summary, very disappointed. We found the apartment to be of a sub standard condition - Old well used condition and in need of substantial refurbishment. Some of the main problems include ...Security safe broken, bathroom sink damaged, poor shower water pressure, several broken ceiling lights (the wiring appears faulty as the bathroom light stays on permanently), 1 broken bedside lamp with exposed wires, aged decor and furniture and a smell of stale cigarette smoke throughout which has impregnated the fabrics in the room ... The list goes on. Also, there are no basic coffee making facilities in the room, no cutlery and no crockery. We overlooked this detail assuming hosts would supply these essentials for their guests. There is a small fridge however, suitable for keeping bottled drinks, fruit etc. cold. ... The hotel in which the apartment is located (Beach Class / Transamerica) is currently undergoing extensive refurbishment and has no real facilities to offer - No swimming pool, gym or quiet rest or workspaces. We were not notified by our host David of this and only found out at check in from the hotel reception staff ... We get the impression that David does not care to manage his properties (he has at least 2 in the building). We were initially put into his other apartment on level 36 but despite spectacular views, this was also in arguably worse condition so moved down to 801. We suspect David hasn't inspected the properties for some time as he appeared to have no knowledge of the problems in the apartments, including the obvious ones. On Day 1 he said he would look into the hotel refurbishment as he knew nothing about it. We've had no further contact from him about this, nor an offer of any recompense for the holiday we paid for based on the facilities advertised. If this changes we will be happy to update our review but at this stage are submitting it in good faith to alert other Booking.
