We stayed for one night at Casa Barițiu and booked two studios, 7A and 7B. The location is excellent, right in the historic centre of Brașov and just next to the Black Church, which makes it perfect for exploring the city on foot.
We also appreciated being able to reserve a parking space nearby. Parking in central Brașov can be quite difficult, so having a guaranteed space was very convenient, even though it cost an additional 80 RON per night.
The studio itself was lovely, clean and nicely equipped. We did not use the kitchenette as we were only staying for one night, but it looked compact and well arranged.
The main downside for me was the self check-in system. I had not realised when booking that there was no traditional check-in, and although everything ultimately worked without any problems, this is simply not a concept I personally enjoy. When I am on holiday, I prefer arriving at a reception desk rather than having to read instructions and work out the self check-in procedure myself.
I was also a little disappointed by the breakfast arrangement. It was not clear to me when booking that breakfast would essentially consist of a voucher that could be used at one of four partner locations. There was also an option to request breakfast at the accommodation, but the whole system required more planning and organising in advance than I would personally expect from a stay with breakfast included. Had I known that breakfast meant going out to a partner café, I probably would have booked the room without breakfast and simply chosen a café myself in the morning.
Overall, however, we had a good stay. The studios were clean and pleasant and the location is hard to beat. The self check-in and breakfast concept are mainly a matter of personal preference, but I think they could be explained more clearly at the time of booking so that guests know exactly what to expect.
