The Hunter's Lodge was excellent value. Having access to a well-equipped kitchen and a living room to watch movies at night was a real pleasure. The wifi works well and the parking for the Lodge was always easy. We felt we were close enough to both King's Canyon and Sequoia National Park for us to have rich and full days of exploration. The food at Bella Brooke Cafe was generally quite good, if a bit pricey.
The staff in the restaurant were not exactly friendly. Sometimes, the interactions were just awkward. As a resident guest, you get a discount on food but you have to remember to mention it each time. Of course, I occasionally forget to ask for my discount. I would have liked the opportunity to have an open tab to avoid this. Lastly, the $70 security deposit is NOT a credit card hold as it is everywhere else on the planet. Here, they charge you $70 and then you wait a few days after your stay to get a credit back to your card. In this financial age, charging cards and then having to process a charge back is a ridiculously unnecessary administrative process.

Property was beautiful, staff was amazing. Dinner was great and the room was adorable. The only complaint was that one mattress in our cabin was too hard, not firm but hard as a rock.

We stayed in the green mini cabin. It was clean, had AC, TV with some cable channels. Staff were very friendly and we were able to get coffee and delicious pastries before we headed out early on our hike.

Food for all days was great! Menu selection was large. Breakfast and Dinner were very good. Staff was great and they open early allowing you tine to get to the parks early.
Rooms are very tired!!! The blankets on the beds were very old with holes and seemed dirty. The bathroom toilet is too close to the sink which made it very difficult to use. The shower is extremely small. No room outside the shower to stand and dry off. We are a small couple, could not imagine how difficult it would be for an average or plus size to use the facilities. Everything purchased had a cash and credit card price. Owner should consider just adjusting the prices knowing that most people while traveling pay with credit cards and be done with it. Way too many written rules on walls, etc. Even though I paid in full via Booking, I was still required to pay a $70 fee (refundable) upon check-in that was not disclosed. It is now a few days after departing and the $70 has not been credited to my credit card. Owner allowed two dogs to roam free inside restaurant. We love dogs! However, the smaller dog named River even jumped up on top of tables and licked the table tops (not too sanitary).
