The Block Hotel & Commons

Location, easy to park, mountains view, friendly neighborhood. The bar , food in the hotel

We did not have breakfast as part of our package. But we enjoyed the bar access and ability to sit outside with wine & enjoy the lovely eve.

Front desk staff not very personable.

This hotel was really great. A combination of upscale hostel and hotel. Our room was large and comfortable with great view facing river and private bath. There were a variety of sitting areas and bar on first floor with guest kitchen available. A really sweet spot. Will stay again when in the area. Located in a quiet part of town. Walking tail right out the door along the river👍🏼 Very clean and comfortably furnished.

Only problem, which really wasn’t, but could not figure out how to turn on tv.

The location is beautiful. The bunk beds were comfortable and spacious, you can sit up. Shelf with plug provided to charge devices. Walled in to minimize noise and provide privacy. Individual compartment to keep your belongings and has a bar to hang clothes. Restrooms/showers were clean and spacious. Kitchen provided baskets and labeling supplies to put your food in the fridge and in pantry. It was pleasant to meet other guest while preparing meals together. The common sitting areas are large, clean and inviting.

The desk staff were not attentive, courteous and friendly. When I arrived I approached the desk and stood there while the receptionist looked down. Finally she looked up and ask if I needed anything. I asked for the restroom and she pointed. I looked the way she pointed but couldn't quite see it so I looked at her puzzled and asked, where? She just said, on the right. After using the restroom I came back to check in. I told her I had reservations and was checking in. I was informed that the AC in the room was not working and was told I might want to check it out first. I wasn't sure what that meant. What if I checked out and it didn't work out for me, where would I sleep? I was not offered any options nor was I given any appologies for the inconvenience. Mind you I made the reservations just a few hours before when this was already an issue and nothing was informed to me nor was I offered a discount. Anyhow, I stayed because I had been driving all day and just needed a place to stay and Colorado doesn't allow overnight parking in their rest areas so I had no choice. Thankfully I had made my reservations thru booking.com so I got a good price for it. I thought maybe this was just the night shift person being tired or something. But the next morning there was another receptionist and the same attitude. They are either on their phones or taking to someone else. Just not very attentive to costumers at all. But, the place is nice so as long as you don't expect great costumer service you will enjoy it here.
