RedDoorz @ Eros Travellers Pensione

Eros is a long standing hotel, once upon a time, the go to place for foreign backpackers, but it seems to have taken a wrong turn into the digital world. I stayed here about 3 decades ago, and the place is still going strong. Rooms are nicely set around a big courtyard. Nostalgica made me book it, despite it being over my usual budget....but then I found out that their cheapest rooms can't be booked online! Some rooms are called RedDoorz and are the ones you can book. It's essentially in the same hotel. Excellent spotlessly clean upgraded rooms with a lot of amenities, some of which I don't really need. It had a desk and a very nice bathroom with a divider for the shower. I came off a ferry who's departure was notified delayed with 5 h the day before it was leaving, so I didn't book my arrival night, as I thought I would arrive at 6am not 1am, then the ferry arrived early instead! Took a chance and headed for Eros which has a 24h reception. They had a room in EROS, for that night, but not in RedDoorz! Way cheaper! ....and I liked the room better! Good Aircon, soft top sheet, table and chairs but cold water only. Very friendly and helpful staff, dirt cheap water refills in the reception, good WiFi. Very good air quality throughout. Wet clothes from the frequent downpours always dried up.

No idea why the cheapest rooms can't be booked online. They are right on par, if not better, than similar budget rooms elsewhere in the country. Also, seriously need a designated smoking area. Even the smallest little corner will do, but that 'ash tray', which sometimes is there, sometimes not, by the gate, is far from ideal.

Location, wifi, value for money.

Didn't get booked double room instead twin room. Full or hairs on the floor. Mirror in the bathroom.
