Margot and Enguerrand were lovely, friendly and very helpful with excellent and accurate tourist advice. We had one meal cooked by Enguerrand and it was really excellent. The property is very interesting and the hotel is well placed for Cauterets and for Lac Du Gaube and Cirque du Gavarnie. They provided a good packed lunch.
Our room was up a number of flights of stairs, the last flight was very steep with narrow steps. We couldn't have got our cases upstairs without Enguerrand doing it for us. The hotel is very much the family home with their young children around and so all meals were round one big family table. This will be a lovely experience for some but our experience (us eating a lovely meal at one end of the table while four men were eating something they had brought in at the other end) did not work for us. There was also no real outdoor space and we had hoped to have a day of quiet in a garden/outdoor space. The driveway up to the property is twisty and steep and parking feels a bit of a challenge. They don't provide an evening meal on Wednesdays or Sundays. We are now in our early 70s and probably sound old and grumpy here. I think we'd have loved staying here 20 years ago and before but, at our stage of life, I think this had a few too many drawbacks for us.
