Firstly you’ll need a reason to come to this city. Come!
It’s a very small and pleasant place to visit. Some excellent buildings and history, a very walkable centre with plenty of shops, bars and restaurants. The football stadium is within walking distance and the outlet shopping is a very short drive.
Once you’ve decided to come to Troyes……. Book this accommodation!!!!
It’s a wonderful apartment, very clean, spacious, tastefully decorated and with everything you need for an efficient and comfortable stay, especially to enjoy some family and friends time.
From the communication with the host and the presentation of the property you can be sure the owners are very kind and nice people with a love for their apartment.
The upstairs part of the accommodation is brilliant and gave some responsible separation for the kids.
The location is amazing to watch the main square of the city and for access to everything, including the parking garage.
One little quirk were the bullet holes in the shutters. Don’t panic!!! They are over 80 years old!! It appears from what we researched that the apartment has some historical significance as the last hold out of retreating enemy forces at the end of world war 2 and was engaged in a battle with US military……. The outside walls show similiar bullet holes.

There were a couple of small things that could have taken the score down to a 9, but the apartment and communication was so good and Troyes surprisingly nice that I didn’t want to give less than a 10 😊
I will mention them though in case useful to others……. 1 small annoyance was only organising parking for 1 car. There were 8 of us on the booking, which in nearly all circumstances would mean 2 cars. On our 2 week road trip every other accomodation made the allowance for 2 cars .Ultimately I’m not overly bothered as the car parking was €17 for the duration of our stay and I’d of happily paid another €17 for the accommodation.
Initial impression walking in the entrance foyer and up the stairs was a bit oh no…… other apartment owners had left boxes, rubbish and furniture in the stairwells and hallways…… not dirty but untidy….. this can’t be attributed to this particular apartment though so ignore it.
Hopefully we did keep quiet after 9 as requested but the floors and stairs are all wood so difficult to be completely silent

The location was excellent right in the centre of the old city, many restaurants, shops, historical sites, churches, museums and a supermarket across the road. The apartment is lovely with large bedrooms and a large dining table. The apartment was very well equipped and we could cook and eat many of our meals at home. Our hosts were generous and friendly and responsive to all our requests. They were concerned about our comfort during the heatwave.
It was hot temperatures in the late 30s to early 40s and the top floor apartment was stifling, the hosts went out of their way to make our stay more comfortable but the apartment is an historical building and so far they have been unable to install air-conditioning. These were unprecedented temperatures for Troyes and most people were in the same situation. Our host brought us extra fans to cope with the heat which helped to a point. The apartment is on a main square which is noisy especially when your method of cooling down a little is opening the double glazed windows.

Es befindet sich in einer sehr guten Lage, neben dem historischen Stadtzentrum. Die Unterkunft ist geräumig und hell.
1. Die Unterkunft befindet sich im Dachgeschoss eines Altbaus. Der Zugang ist schwierig, da steile Treppen erforderlich sind. Es gibt keinen Aufzug.
2. Im Inneren ist die Unterkunft zweistöckig. Der Aufstieg zur oberen Ebene ist sehr steil und für Kinder und Menschen mit eingeschränkter Mobilität gefährlich oder unmöglich.
3. Im Obergeschoss gibt es zwar ein Dusch-WC, allerdings hat nur die Dusche Warmwasser, nicht das Handwaschbecken. Ich musste mich jeden Morgen mit kaltem Wasser rasieren – ich hätte nie gedacht, dass unsere Unterkunft ein Außenposten der Fremdenlegion sein würde! :) Außerdem ist dieses Dusch-WC in einem sehr schlechten Zustand, es ist definitiv „wackelig“.
4. Wir hatten große Probleme mit der Heizung in der Unterkunft: Es war unmöglich, sie so einzustellen, dass sie warm wurde. Unter großen Schwierigkeiten und nach mehrmaligem Nachrichtenaustausch mit den Eigentümern wurde die Heizung angepasst.
