The beds were not very comfortable. The location (Perledo) was up a hill and the local bus’ schedule was not reliable, so basically, one has to walk to the train station/Varenna.

L’appartement est très spacieux, propre et rénové récemment. La vue de l’appartement est incroyable. Le quartier est très silencieux et paisible.

Ce n’est pas un point négatif mais juste une information : Ça grimpe pas mal pour accéder à Perledo depuis Varenna. Les hôtes vous enverront toutes les informations pour les bus navettes et les free shuttles pour éviter les 40 minutes de montée. Les navettes nous ont beaucoup aidé ! :)

It was very quiet and you absolutely couldn't complain with the staff trying to help at least. The view is pretty, but for us, it just wasn't worth the stay.

The place was tidy; It had the absolute bare minimum IKEA furnishings. Thankfully the mattress that was only about 20cm deep was comfortable. There is no aircon, only a small fan which is just absolutely not enough on warm days. You can open the windows but there are no fly screens (typical in Italy) or bars so you get mozzies, and you can't leave them open during the day as the kitchen/bathroom/bedroom windows are all ground level so someone could literally just climb into the place; there was also a neighbours cat that let itself in once 🫠 The location is just a nightmare. You're quite far up the hill and it literally feels deserted; there is quite literally nothing around. To get up its a 30-40 minute cobblestone HIKE (not just a steep walk) or the bus which you may or may not get. There is a paid day bus that runs on schedules but was a pain in the ass to get tickets for. Once we were told "get the tickets from the driver", we tried this only for the driver to reject us and tell us we needed to go to the store... which told us they didn't sell tickets anymore and to go to Bar Milano... which was closed even though Google said it was open... twice! This sort of mixed messages about how to get the tickets happened both days we stayed here. The work-around was to simply accept you were up for a sweaty hike to/from town or pre-plan every moment of the trip and pre-purchase paper tickets from the train station. The night bus is free, but works on a msg and wait (god knows how long) set up. It's not a first in first served basis either - they base it on where people are and need to go, trying to find the most convenient route at the time. So don't bet on simply rocking up and heading straight home.. you could be in for a wait. We also heard several people say they could never get taxis. You could get a car/scooter but also keep in mind that parking in town is a nightmare.
