Amazing place by the lake

Not recommended; very run down

The bathroom was exceptionally clean, the bed was comfortable, and the air conditioning worked great. The host is very sweet and checks in with his guests.

I traveled as a solo 24-year-old woman with my dog and, unfortunately, would not stay here again. The host was very kind and welcoming, but the property itself was extremely poor. The location is in a trailer park, and both the surrounding homes and the condition of the building were concerning. The room was poorly maintained, reeking of cigarette smoke, with dirty floors, peeling paint on the walls, dead bugs in the windows, holes in the sheets, and even a mop left in the middle of the room upon arrival. The listing states that dogs are not allowed, yet many guests appeared to have pets and left them unattended in their rooms during the day. Additionally, I observed cleaning staff smoking cigarettes while moving between guest rooms, which may have caused the room to reek of smoke, to the point I had to wash every clothing item I didn't even wear. The best part of my stay was being greeted by a stray dog when I arrived. I later learned she had an owner, but she spent most of her days unattended and was chained up around her neck at night. After spending time with her, giving her a bath, feeding her, unchaining her, and getting to know her sweet personality, I accidentally came upon her 'owner.' He was a very kind older man who told me he saved her as a puppy under his house. I offered to take her off his hands and he was happy for me to give her a new home. Snoop is now the newest addition to my collection of rescued dogs living their best lives. The bathroom was clean, the bed was comfortable, and the air conditioning worked well. However, those positives were greatly outweighed by the overall condition of the property. While I appreciated the host's kindness, the property itself was in much worse condition than expected, and not in a safe/nice area. For those visiting the lake, the closest marina is Catfish Bay Marina, which is convenient for boat docking and swimming, but it does not have a marina restaurant.

Cleanliness

They have regular rooms and not just cabins like the website implies. If you get a room on the 2nd floor, be prepared to climb a steep, long and narrow stairs. There is no soap, shampoo, or ice machine.
