About this house rental
Situated in Oak Island, this lovely house for $255 per night is a great choice for your next trip. Relax with your whole family (6 guest maximum/5 adults maximum)– dogs included – at this cozy cottage located on the “quiet side” of Oak Island, NC! Down Time has new appliances, a fully stocked kitchen, washer/dryer, and Smart TVs in the living room and bedrooms include Netflix, Hulu, Prime and HBO Max. The bedrooms are newly furnished, and our spacious sunroom is perfect for reading or enjoying the view. A fenced backyard includes an outdoor shower (shut down December through February), patio, outdoor dining, and fire pit. Only a few steps to enter the home - no elevators! DOWN TIME was made to be comfortable for both you and dogs! Every bedroom and the living room include Smart TVs with blazing fast fiber optic internet and include Netflix, Amazon Prime, HBO Max, and Hulu (including live programing for news and sports). All of the furniture in the home is new and ready for you and your dogs to enjoy. The kitchen is fully stocked with dishes, cooking utensils, gas range, microwave, pots, pans, coffee pot, crockpots, toaster, air-fryer, and much more. Your family and friends can enjoy meals at the kitchen island, the dining room table or even on the six-seat table in the backyard. Our backyard is fenced and private and includes an enclosed private outdoor shower with hot water, which is great for when you return from a trip to the beach. Your dogs will enjoy a mostly grassy area and the seating on the patio includes Adirondack chairs, dining table for 6, and a lounger to enjoy around the firepit or while cooking on the park-style charcoal grill. Additional ‘paw wash’ stations (water hoses) are also available to wash off before entering the home from the beach. We try to keep a variety of beach items (chairs, toys, etc.) in our storage bin in the backyard for your use but we do not guarantee these items will be available during your visit. Linens are included for your visit. We include two Queen sheet sets, one Full set, one Twin set, six towel sets and a dish towel set. Our laundry area features full-size washer and dryers so that you can keep things fresh during your stay and leave with clean laundry! As an additional convenience, we have installed an Electric Vehicle (220 Amp 50 volt) and golf cart charging station at the main entrance. You’ll find lots of games, puzzles, books, cornhole and Bocce ball set to keep you and your family entertained. The entire home is floored with luxury vinyl plank to help prevent difficult mess clean-ups, and pet amenities like dog beds for inside and outside are available. Dog crates (one large, two small) are in the home for your use if you wish and located under the second guest room bed. We welcome two dogs without weight or breed restrictions without charge and additional dogs may only be added for a fee and host approval. DOWN TIME regularly welcomes dogs. If you or another guest is allergic to dogs, you may wish to find another vacation option. We only accept two dogs without charge. If you need to bring additional dogs, please contact us for information about additional fees/approval. Bringing more than two dogs without owner acknowledgement can lead to immediate eviction, or an additional fee of $300 per dog charged to reservation payment method. Cats are explicitly not permitted under any circumstance due to owner allergies. PLEASE NOTE: Although many online vacation rental companies (VRBO) permit a limit on adults, many listings DO NOT state that limit. Down Time has a limit of 5 adults, but a total of six guests. Please Read All House Rules - Violation of house rules will result in immediate eviction. Security Cameras are located on the exterior of the home at all entrances. Tampering with the security cameras will result immediate eviction. The cameras are for your protection and ours. Please note: Lawn maintenance is scheduled for near or around the 1st and 15th of every month but may be before or after those dates depending on the weather. Our lawn service will not be at Down Time before 10 am, and should only be at the property for approximately one hour. Six guests maximum. 5 Adults maximum. Travel Coverage and Vacation Protection is highly recommended. We do not provide any refund for unforeseen or unfortunate events or any cancellations within 7 days under any circumstance, including but not limited to storms, hurricanes, evacuations, epidemics, or hospitalizations. Some credit card companies provide travel protection as a benefit. Check your benefits. Consider purchasing additional, appropriate coverage. Please read your selected policy carefully to ensure it meets your personal needs and requirements.

Wonderful house and fenced-in yard. The front enclosed patio is a great place to hang out and relax. Everything in this house is new and clean and so well done. Kitchen is well stocked and we appreciated the starter stuff and the snacks!
Everything is here for dogs, bowls, crates, beds, raised beds, dog towels, water bowl mat. We always bring all that so next time we won't have to bring as much!
Furniture is comfortable throughout the house. We loved sitting at the big island.
The dogs loved the backyard and it was easy to get them in and out of the house. Another bonus was a poop patrol station : ).
We didn't need the outdoor shower or beach stuff due to it being cold in January, but nice to know it's available for a warmer month visit.

Best place we’ve stayed at Oak island and will for sure be looking to stay again only thing we just wish there was a little bit of lighting in the backyard but other than that kitchen everything you could ask for and loved the sun room off the front of house.

Very quiet neighborhood near the beach. Home was nicely furnished as shown in pictures and included everything we wanted. Kitchen was equipped with all the cookware and dishes needed. The backyard was perfect for our family and 2 dogs to enjoy including a grill, fire pit, and nice patio furniture.

Our stay was wonderful! This was the most dog friendly home with the fenced in backyard. Fire pit was so fun to use, too! A short 3 minute drive to the beach was great! The beds were very comfortable. The screened in front porch was my favorite and was used every opportunity we could get. Would stay again in a heartbeat! If you are traveling with your dogs, look no further. Just pack their favorite food and check into "Down Time". The home has everything you need to make your stay easy. Even if you forget something, chances are, they have spare there for you to borrow. The home is lovely and well appointed. The home is spotlessly clean, and the yard is private and serene. The owners were prompt with communication, and the neighbors friendly. What more could you want in a vacation rental?

What a gem! The property was very clean, nicely decorated, very well appointed - perfect for my family, including our pup!
I was a little unsure about how clean this home could actually be, considering it was advertised as being the Mecca for our furry friends, but this concern was completely unfounded! It was cleaner than most vacation rental homes we've stayed in that don't even accept pets!
My husband had to work during our stay, and the all-season room in the front of the house was the perfect space for him. The house is close to beach access - about 5 minutes via golf cart (which I highly recommend renting a golf cart during your stay!). My daughters loved the bunk beds.
The snacks left on the kitchen table were such a thoughtful touch!
We love that our whole entire family found such a great place to stay with our pup! We can't wait to come back!

We had the best weekend at Down Time. Even with a weekend of rain this house provided us plenty to do inside and on the beautiful screened in porch. Neighbors were lovely, house was immaculately clean, and all the little touches to make our dogs stay more comfortable were so nice!! We already loved OKI this house is just another to add to our list to return to. Hosts were excellent with communication. All around great stay, we can’t wait to come back.

I had a lovely 2 days of peace and relaxation at DownTime. The owners responded quickly to my questions and the house was lovely, spacious and comfortable. Great neighborhood, easy access to the beach and a good vibe on Oak Island. Great coastal community in NC, much more low key and less built up compared to the Outer Banks.

My husband and I and our two doodles stayed here for a long weekend. It was so very nice!!! They had everything we needed and more. We will definitely stay here again. The back yard had a privacy fence, fire pit , and grill. We stayed in one night cooked out steaks and had a fire. We had a relaxing night just staying and hanging out with our dogs around the fire. I loved how the home is a one story ,very updated and organized. Thank you again for being so hospitable. Very friendly neighbors too!

We loved this place. Everything was just as described and more. Clean, quiet, short drive to beach. This was definitely one of our best vacations. We relaxed and enjoyed watching our pets discover a new place. We hope to visit again because for us and our pets it was perfect. We usually go to a hustle and bustle beach (commercialized) but Oak Island reminds me of the true spirit of a beach vacation for people wanting to really get away. We had a lovely stay at Down Time! The home was spacious with lots of amenities that were perfect for families with kids. We spent much of our time in the sunroom. The home is located on a quiet street. The “wash your paws station” and outdoor shower were very useful coming off the beach. Our sweet Cali (dog) enjoyed her stay as much as we did. They have dog crates, beds and cots available for your furry friends. We would definitely stay at Down Time again.

A TerRUFFic Time
From the moment we walked in we knew we found the perfect house. It was not only impeccably beautiful but dog friendly in every corner. It made a world of difference knowing our pups were having just as much of a vacation as we were. The backyard is perfect for kicking up your feet and relaxing while the pups have a place to play. We loved that the fence gave us privacy. It rained one day while we were away and there were plenty of games to choose from to our delight! Everything is well thought out, we had everything we needed and them some! We can’t wait to book again 🐾🐾🐾

Perfect getaway
This property was very clean and a nice getaway. The backyard is a great area to relax and great for our Caroline to run around. Unfortunately we couldn't stay longer. Rachel and Jermey were very attentive, and you can see they take pride in their home. It's a great neighborhood! We will be back! Thanks Rachel and Jeremy.

Absolutely Delightful
The property was very clean and very nicely decorated. Lovely screened in porch area (three season.) Lots of amenities, including dog towels, dog beds, etc. We were with our (adult) son and daughter-in-law, as well as our dogs, and felt that everything was very convenient. The back yard was great for the doggos, and we enjoyed having a fire in the firepit in the evening. Communication was good with the hosts. We recommend this place highly, and would definitely stay here again, if it is available.
