Nestled in Rapid City, this attractive house for $250 per night is a fantastic choice for your next break. Simple, stylish decor is what you'll find throughout our comfortable townhome. There's free parking on premises, a complete kitchen, in-home laundry, WiFi, a desk to work, and a private outdoor patio. The Chapel Valley neighborhood is quiet and tranquil, other than deer walking around or hearing the wind whistle through the Ponderosa pines. You're at the doorstep of the Black Hills & centrally located to all of the great western South Dakota sites. We've spent hours putting together a very, very comprehensive online guidebook that we'll immediately send out to you after you book with us. We all know that you'll be traveling out this way to see 4 old men on a side of a granite rock, but in case you're wondering what else there is to see & do out here, don't worry - we've got you covered. From the best spots to star-gaze, to where to eat, what outdoor bars to hit up or some of the best hikes, you'll have everything at your fingertips & then-some! In other words, we've pretty much done your itinerary for you so you don't need to do it. We spent the entire month of June painting every room in the place. We also remodeled both bathrooms & completely refurnished it. In September we managed to do an egress project where we legally can call our comfy basement a 3rd bedroom, complete with a king-size bed. In October we're adding brand-new windows through out the townhome. The space: Start your day with a hot drink from the coffee bar, and enjoy sipping it outside on the front deck or under the umbrella on our private patio in back. The dining room table easily seats 6 for meals or to plan your day. The spacious living room has a large, flat-screen smart TV for you to relax & unwind. The place is very clean, as we've sought out the best in the business - our cleaner won "Best Of The Black Hills Award for Cleaners" in 2021. We've incorporated local art throughout to highlight the beauty of the Black Hills as well.

From the start we felt comfortable with our choice to stay at Idlewild. David was communicative and accommodating. We only had time in our travel plans to stay the one night but would have definitely stayed longer. The house was clean and just as described. You could tell it was newly renovated. David provided us with recommendations for dinner and we stopped at Murphys Pub and Grill for dinner before we checked in because we were running late. Great choice. Food, drinks and atmosphere was spot on. Food was delicious, atmosphere was cozy and service was quick and friendly. Idlewild is in a nice neighborhood; even spotted a nice buck mule deer with a few does on our way out in the morning. Thank you for providing a great guest experience.

I have rented the facilities through VRBO many many times in the past. I would rate this one as one of the top one to remember in a positive manner. The neighborhood was quiet and clean. The owner was very friendly and available. The house was spic n span when we entered. Kitchen was well equipped for every necessity you may need. If I ever visit this neck of the woods, I will certainly try to rent this one again. Five Stars all the way!

The property is centrally located for seeing all the sites! David and Leslie provide an extensive online guidebook upon booking to help guests make the most out of their stay in Rapid City. Upon arrival we were welcomed with with gift basket with snacks and bottled water. We appreciated this and the other little extras provided by the gracious hosts. The 3-story townhouse was clean, the towels were fluffy, and the beds were super comfortable. We cooked several meals in the well stocked kitchen that even included spices. I took off one star since minor repairs are needed (Need handrail for stairs leading to the basement. Basement bath door sticks. Face plate for a couple electric outlets do not fully cover the wall opening. Second floor bath toilet seat, shower head, and shower handle were loose.) The property has central air conditioning (not window air conditioners as listed in the property description). During our summertime visit the main floor was comfortable, the two second floor bedrooms were too warm, and the basement bedroom was too cool. The basement registers/vents were stuck open so closing them was not an option.

While the home offered all we needed, including a great location to all we had planned, what made this one of our best vacations was the hosts! David reached out to us immediately after booking and helped us consider areas to explore we had not considered. He gave us continual access to answering questions via text so that we could maximize every minute. Leslie even came to the house while she was in town to replace batteries in thermostat. It was a pleasure getting to meet her in person as she also shared additional ideas. We followed the suggestions of both David and Leslie and are grateful to have had them. They know the area well and want to ensure everyone grows to love it like they do! You will not be disappointed! :)

The house was clean, comfortable beds and the extra touches were nice. Variety of coffee, snacks, waters, etc The air conditioning was set too warm when we arrived late at night and took some time to cool down, especially upstairs, but the owner was super responsive. It is central air, not window units. The travel guide he provided was helpful and informative.

We are a family of six with kids ages 10 and under. The property was accurately listed and was inviting as soon as we walked in. We loved the location on the west side of Rapid and enjoyed the easy access to tourist attractions. We also enjoyed nearby parks and restaurants. The condo unit that the property is in was very quiet. The neighborhood felt very safe and had great walking sidewalks. The property has ample living space and a well stocked kitchen. I was thrilled with little details like paper towels and tissues being available. The beds were VERY comfortable and the towels were new and fluffy. The bedrooms are two up and one legal bedroom in basement. This wasn't an issue for us as my kids are comfortable sleeping away from us but families with younger children should consider this. The owner was communicative, friendly, and helpful. If life ever brings us back to western South Dakota, I will definitely book here again. I highly recommend.

We had the whole place to ourselves and the hosts were very gracious. They gave us so much local insight that it felt like we had a friend in the area! The location is also amazing. It’s within walking distance of a beautiful park. It’s also pretty equidistant to all the national and state parks in the area, which is fantastic for those who are exploring the great outdoors!

House was in a great location — 10 minutes or so from all the restaurants and bars in town and on the side of town closest to the historical sites. Neighborhood is quiet and the house itself is spacious and well maintained. Plenty of room for a larger group although it was just my wife and me. Would recommend to anyone coming to the area and would stay here again if we were to return.

The beds were very comfortable and we all slept very well. We made all breakfasts at the property and a few dinners. The kitchen had everything we needed. It was nice to have a washer and dryer at our disposal! David was very nice and had good recommendations for places to eat and visit. We would definitely stay here again.

What an amazing vacation. The home was very welcoming when we got there. Plenty of space when we wanted to just chill when we’re not out exploring the many places to see in South Dakota. There was many references to different locations and hot spots to check out.

Our family enjoyed our 10 day stay in this town home. The bedrooms are spacious and comfortable. We took several pleasant walks around the neighborhood spotting many deer and enjoyed sipping coffee on the porch in the mornings.
