About this house rental
The rich and unique story of the Normandy building certainly adds to the enchanting character of the structure. Constructed in the early-mid 1800s, according to legend, the Normandy was originally a brothel and saloon before it was purchased by Mike Garvey and "rebranded" as Garvey’s Hotel in 1871. In 1884 Mr. Garvey sold his hotel to T.H. Thierman, 'the whiskey man', who restored and then gave the building its present name of the Normandy Hotel.
Also, for all you Bill Murray fans out there, if you as may recognize some of the interior suites as the initial "apartment" scenes from the infamous movie 'Stripes', partially filmed inside the Normandy building back in 1981.
The Normandy Loft offers 2200 Sq. Ft. for Louisville activities and events. At the corner of N. 7th and Washington Street, you are within blocks of the Louisville Slugger Museum, The Center for the Arts, the Muhammad Ali Center, YUM Center, Kentucky International Convention Center and the Urban Bourbon Trail. You will find all the amenities of home in addition to a lengthy gallery balcony and upper deck with a vast view of the Ohio River and the Louisville cityscape.

Location was great! Loft was spotless and beautiful! Eric was very responsive to the two questions I asked which I could have figured out myself!! Would definitely stay there again!

We were very excited to stay in such a unique place. The location was perfect. Could walk to slugger and down to whiskey row. Initially, communication was great and our issues with checking in and the lock, the door knob fell into our hands, was fixed quickly. However, our stay fell below expectations in many ways. The biggest issue was the ceiling leaked during the night and the ceiling fell onto our bag. Our clothes were contaminated with mold and mildew. The room smelt terrible and become unsafe. We lost the bedroom the rest of the trip. The host did not answer. The ceiling over the loft is also beginning to bubble. In addition, the place is advertised as 4 bedrooms, note it is not. The futon on the loft is your fourth bedroom. No door no privacy. Looks over into the kitchen. The couch broke while we were sitting on it. Kitchen chairs were broken. Several pieces of furniture was poorly built and would wobble. The railing on the balcony is incredible lose, we could not go out. So epic location but our safety was not a priority to the host.
