About this apartment hotel

Nestled in South Portland, this charming apartment hotel for $455 per night is a great option for your next trip. Welcome to The Skolfield Inn! ROOM 1: This north east corner room gets plenty of morning light through its beautiful bay window (although, should you choose to sleep in, with our blackout shades you won't even know the sun has risen!). The attached private bath is extremely small, but what it lacks in space it makes up for in style. This room also comes with one off street parking spot (cannot support larger SUVs/trucks). The space: Built in 1895, this John Calvin Stevens' designed home still has many original features unique to the famous architect. Commissioned by John T. Skolfield, the single family home was converted to an inn and opened for business in 2019. With just four guest rooms, our inn offers a peaceful stay, satisfying social guests or those seeking solace. Your private room is furnished with a queen sized bed, television (no cable, just smart TV with Netflix account), white noise machine, and a reading chair (or couch depending on the room). Off street parking is available, cannot support larger SUVs/trucks, and being competent in reverse is a plus! For those with large vehicles, street parking is readily available in front of the inn from 4pm-10am for overnight guests (outside these hours are hourly restrictions). A half mile away is residential street parking which is free and has no hourly restrictions for those staying longer than a night. Other things to note: ***WINTER PARKING: If we should have a snow storm, the day after the storm, we are required to remove all cars from the parking area so it can be properly cleaned out. From 9am through 3pm cars must be moved. Closest street parking with no time restrictions is about a half mile away so its a good time to explore the sites downtown or in our neighboring cities! The host will message through the Airbnb website/app the day of snow removal and any car left in the parking area will be charged a $100 fee***

I stayed here with a friend for a girls' trip. It was such a nice place to relax. The garden was lovely! We loved that so many great restaurants are in walking distance. We didn't realize there was a park just up the street with views of the bay until the last day! Overall it was a great little place to stay.

Love the architecture and gardens of this property and others in the neighborhood. Near the hospital. Feels very safe. Within walking distance of tourist areas - if you like walking as much as I do. Host was very accommodating. Comfortable bed and bedding. I would definitely stay again.

We loved staying at the Skofield Inn. The parking lot is tight (especially for spot/room #1), so we had to do the street parking thing, but it wasn't an issue over the weekend. The room was clean and exactly as described, good pressure on the shower (which was desperately needed after 2 nights camping), and we enjoyed exploring the neighborhood. There's a beautiful park about 2 blocks from the Inn that has amazing views, and you're about a 5-10 minute drive from downtown Portland which is very convenient.

The setup of this inn and its charming Victorian interior works really well. Good location, responsive hosts, and a great value. On-site parking would be tight for a large vehicle, but that is explained in the property information.

We were in town for 3 nights. Loved every aspect of our visit - even the cold, snowy days! Inn located in a perfect location for walking to lots of delicious restaurants and shops. Would definitely stay at the Skolfield Inn again.

Property was better than described, it was a very cozy (yes, that means small, but that was exactly what we expected), but with the common areas available, we only used the room at night. It's a little hike to the Old Port area, but Portland is very walkable, so that wasn't an issue. There were no issues with finding the Inn, checking in, or staying there for two days. The price was very reasonable, and we would stay there again.
