We enjoyed our stay at this home. It was nice to have a spacious home and the deck with its view of the bay was absolutely amazing. Three full bathrooms (one for each bedroom) plus the half bath shared with the convenient laundry was very nice. There are two master bedrooms on the main floor, one at each end of the great room. One of the master bathrooms had a lovely soaking tub but the shower attachment was impractical as there was no way to use it without the water going everywhere. The bedroom with that bath also had only a full-size bed, but the other master had a king size bed. The mattresses were ok but not great. Curtains in the bedrooms that blocked a bit more light would have been a good touch due to early sunrise. The third bedroom with two twin beds is kind of open to the landing overlooking the great room and there is no real door so there's not great privacy other than just being upstairs out of the way, but fine for kids. There is a futon on the upstairs landing just outside that bedroom that is the 7/8th beds but it could only accommodate kids or smaller adults and was not too comfortable. It also got quite hot upstairs and the large fan in the great room was not working (property manager was aware). There is no air conditioning and we were there for one of the hottest weeks but with the box fans and open windows we managed ok. The mudroom area when coming in the door was great to have as we could leve our boots there and organize everything we needed to pack for our trips to Acadia each day. The kitchen was well stocked and there were plenty of linens for kitchen and baths. We appreciated the selection of DVDs and watched a movie in one of the bedrooms. The setup of the home and the antique furniture was a bit strange for the style of house but that didn't bother us. Everything was very clean. The property manager was accessible and very pleasant. We used the home as a base for visiting Acadia and the trip each day got to be a bit far (30+ minutes depending on what part you're going to) but on the other hand it was nice to be closer to stores such as the Walmart in Ellsworth when we needed something. The actual home is quite remote, we arrived in the dark and there are no lights as you make your way through little gravel roads to the house. If you are looking for something quiet, secluded, peaceful, picturesque, and spacious, this is it. It could use a few upgraded touches but we enjoyed our stay.

This property looked good...but it's not
This property looked good...but it's not
My family and I rented this house for a week in July 2022. Our main goals were 1) a fun but "working" vacation as two of our are entrepreneurs and had a lot of work to catch up on; and 2) being able to spend time at the house and cook food together. One day prior to check-in, the property caretaker called me to let me know there was no internet, and it wouldn't be fixed until after we checked OUT. No solutions were offered. We spent many hours finding a solution in stock at a local walmart and local AT&T store: a wireless cellular modem/router. This search and purchasing ate up most of our first vacation day. Five days later, we still couldn't activate the modem's service because the wait time was hours long at the AT&T store, so we had to return the modem at the end of our stay. The property caretaker is a family friend of the owner and was nice on the phone but was functionally unavailable to help and lives 90 minutes away. The other problem was the kitchen stove is on an improperly-installed (but apparently brand-new) propane tank system. It took 45 minutes to boil a pot of water. Beyond all of these, the entire house had a strange vibe and design to it. The spiral staircase to an open-concept 2nd floor loft is built so closely to the (plywood-sided!!!) kitchen counter wall that an adult can barely squeeze in between the stairwell and the countertop. There is a dining room area that feels dead, dark, and creepy with old antique furniture that you just don't want to touch because it looks like it's being preserved for a museum. There is (or was??) a beautiful outdoor fire pit advertised in the listing, but the guest book says no fires. :( The space is laid out in a way that it's hard to do much of anything useful in it -- a couch here, some chairs there, all heavy and leather and/or antique. I could barely fit my yoga mat on the floor for a workout despite the house being quite large. The mattresses are cheap and sagging. There are touches of luxury and touches of cheapness interspersed in such a way that half the house feels upscale and half feels like somebody ran out of money or had an afterthought and put something cheap in instead. We left 2 days early because it was oppressive and heavy and I found myself not wanting to be in the house, so I worked out in my car and didn't want to spend time inside. Even if all the obvious issues were fixed, I would never stay here again.

Beautiful setting. Clean, adequate accommodations. No internet or cell service.
Beautiful setting. Clean, adequate accommodations. No internet or cell service.
House is clean and has most everything you need. Antique furniture is quaint but not particularly practical or comfortable for 6 of us to visit in the common rooms. Would have preferred a queen bed in the second room. Setting is very beautiful, peaceful and quiet. If you are planning to travel back and forth from Bar Harbor it is about a 45 min drive. Michelle, the property manager, was attentive and happy to help. The internet was not working and we had no cell service so this was a big issue for those that needed to stay connected. We learned of this while on our way so didn't have an opportunity to make other arrangements. Would have been nice if we were compensated for this. Hopefully this will be worked out for others but make sure to clarify.
