About this house rental

Located in Brooklin, this charming house for $500 per night is a fantastic choice for your next trip. Comfortable & family-friendly, this 4 bed/3 bath, well-equipped home offers access to the wonders of the ocean tides with the luxury of a heated pool, sunny deck and cozy indoor spaces to relax and recharge. Originally built in 1900, the Flying Jib was moved to a new foundation and underwent renovations in 1991. It now boasts 4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, large, comfortable living spaces, and a fully equipped kitchen. The cottage is equipped with games, books, and puzzles, internet access, televisions that allow for streaming content as well as viewing of dvd's. The property allows for direct access to Herrick's Bay, to the west and what may be the most beautiful walk and views of Blue Hill and Jericho Bays to the east and south. High tide completely covers the rocky shore, and low tide allows for exploration of the wondrous sea creatures that live beneath. Live sand dollars, sea stars, anemones, a myriad of crabs and sea urchins can be observed along sandbars that become walking paths at very low tides that give access to the off-shore islands. We only rent by the week between June-September (Saturday to Saturday). We can be somewhat more flexible in the shoulder season.

We had a great week at the Flying Jib. We traveled with 3 young kids and we had a great week. There is plenty of bedrooms and bathrooms, the pool was fantastic, and we walked down to the ocean almost every day. I wish we had brought our bikes or a folding beach cart to walk the kids down to the water, but we managed. We've stayed in multiple locations in Brooklin, Stonington, Brooksville. etc. and we REALLY enjoyed the location of the Flying Jib. It's secluded, quiet but yet still relatively close to a variety of things to do (hikes, restaurants, etc.). We would definitely stay here again.

Flye Point in Brooklin, ME is simply stunning. We enjoyed a true Maine experience in this vacation cottage. The pool was a nice to have in August, and Kate is a terrific host. We had a wonderful week.

We thoroughly enjoyed staying at this lovely cottage which truly captured everything our imaginations had expected from vacationing on the coast of Maine. The cottage was comfortable, clean, and quiet. All of the places we wanted to go were within (at most) an hour’s drive. Kate was a wonderful, responsive hostess, always available to answer questions about the area and provide suggestions of places to go. Wonderful experience!

As a Mainer, I feel it’s important to vacation at “home”, too. Every other year we spend at least a week in Maine so that we can support our Maine community. This was our first time staying at here. Here are some of our favorite things: 1. It’s secluded. Away from the hustle and bustle of Maine’s summer vacationland. However, you are a 15-30 minute drive to everything you might need/want while here. 2. The access to the ocean. A 5-7 minute walk and you can explore, swim, rest, walk, read, etc.,,, We found sea urchins, sea glass, and other sea treasures. We didn’t find as many sea stars, but we wonder if it’s because the water felt warmer (not warm at all) than usual for this time of year. We had several exploration days. 3.The house itself is definitely a Maine sea cottage vibe with lots of History. A grill/patio area, a covered porch, living room area, and a pool patio area were some of the places to escape and relax. 4. The pool. We only used it 1x and it was one of the main reasons we chose the house. (Ocean and pool means my teens would be happy.Less fighting! Ha!) but, the weather did not cooperate. 5. The host was awesome with communication and being helpful. She was lovely. She even helped us find some treasure hunting hot spots. We also enjoyed visits to Brooklin Inn for dinner, Blaze, and got lobsters off the pier in Stonington….so fun!!!! I would definitely pack some warmer clothes for evening just in case temps drop. We hope to come back! Thank you!

This is a nice cozy place, it is off the beaten path so it was very relaxing for our family to disconnect from the outside noise of city life. We were able to source local lobsters, oysters and clams for two meals. We were able to feed and seat 9 people by using two tables. The pool was relaxing and we played some games so we didn't use the TV. The owner of the property responds quickly either by phone or email.

This is a lovely spot on Flye Point. The house is an interesting mixture of old cottage and newer addition and care has been taken to provide a variety of essentials. The deck overlooking the ocean was perfect for morning coffee and most evenings we dined on the enclosed porch. The pool is in good shape and we enjoyed playing cornhole on the deck. This is a great place to get away and experience the Maine coast (and there's even a wild blueberry field up the road!). It isn't necessarily what we would recommend if you're looking for a lively setting with lots of restaurant choices.
